Do you wear the 'heavy metal' uniform?

Well I guess I wear the "metal uniform" sorta..
I have long hair and an ear ring in my left ear (I'm also thinking of getting an eye brow ring). I usually wear baggy black or dark blue pants and black t-shirts and hoodies. Sometimes with bands on them and sometimes not.

And like most other people here, I dress like this because it's me and I feel comfortable like this.

P.S. I have also been known to wear some strange things from time to time like a sash that says "Warning: High Voltage" and a sparkly red hat. :D
But usually it's just my black clothes :) Some with bands and some without.

I kinda fell into the 80s Metal stereotype dress because when I got into it at 13 it made a massive impact. It took two or three years for me to get all the apparel and by then it wasn't so much "let's dress like those photos in The Number Of The Beast!"...more "I'd like a leather jacket right now".

I've always worn jeans and white trainers. Black t-shirts of my favourite bands was natural because, fuck, I love these bands and they look damn cool! Long hair was never an option - it had to be done because I love to headbang and it just ain't the same with short hair. I think it looks well good on me too, especially with a beard :D so I guess the leather jacket was the Heavy Metal Accessory, but it had to be done. I love it. Put 'em all together and, oh my god, it's 1982 all over again! It just kinda worked out that way. I know full well I look like a Metal cliche, several people have remarked that I behave like one too  but it doesn't bother me, because I look around me and nobody else is doing it and very few people understand it. I found my niche and it ain't going away! Fuck everyone else! :heh:

More than just the metal fans, but the bands themselves are distinct. Testament keeps the hair and leather going, and it looks great, but Metal Church looks more like me -- shorter hair, jeans and shirts, looking more like they'd be out mowin' the lawn rather than tearing it up on stage.

I've never been to the US but it seems like drinking is alot more of a big deal there than it is here in Australia? I mean the legal age there is 21, what's with that? You can drive at 16 but can't even go to a bar until you're 21? That's fucked! Driving is far more dangerous than having a beer!

In Australia EVERYBODY drinks all the time. I don't know anybody who doesn't drink... and from the time you're 14 or 15 your dad starts drinkin beer with you! And the legal age to buy alcohol or go into a bar is 18 here. It's just normal behavior to get drunk every weekend... I think the entire weekend/social life in Australia is based around alcohol.

And it's not just coz "there's nothing else to do here" or anything because I live in a big city (I'd say Melbourne is like an LA style city but smaller, more the size of a Seattle or Houston?). Though one of my best friends is from a country town and going up there last year for his birthday, man their entire lives revolve around drinking up in the country! There it IS because there's nothing else to do hahaha. They drink during the day every day (though I'm drinkin during the day right now I spose haha).

It just seems weird sometimes when I watch American movies or TV shows and teenagers drinking is seen as being a bad thing, but here your parents start drinking with you in your mid teens usually I think.

I might be wrong though coz I've never been there, maybe the TV shows & movies are just way off but it does seem like a bigger deal there, and the 21 age limit thing is really fucked! I can't even imagine having spent my 18-20 years without going to bars & drinking.... that's where I spent all my nights!

I would say it is differences in culture but thats not true.. drinking is a global thing.. you go out with your friends to a club or bar and have a drink.. I would get bored at a club or bar if drinking wasnt allowed lol shoot we cant even smoke in a bar in NY anymore.. against the law.. same thing with restaurants, clubs etc.. the difference with Australia and the U.S. is the Big Brother likes to control their citizen's lives yet call this a free country.. Remember this is the country that flew a fit because someone's titty was flashed for a millisecond during Superbowl halftime lol ... Politicians (Dems, Reps, Indies, Commies etc.. ) of this world like to preach morals but in their own private lives there drinking, taking drugs, fucking prostitutes, watching porn etc.. etc... so it makes me laugh to see a president win a election based on morals instead of real issues that affect our lives even more lol ... anyways as for the 21 drinking age.. i agree with you.. if you can get a driver's license at 18 you should be allowed to drink in a bar at that same age... the main difference i think from the U.S. drinking and other coutries drinking is we have a much higher problem of teenage drinking and driving.. if it werent for that it would probably still be 18 instead of 21.... it was made 21 back in the 80's during the Reagan era (another so called moralistic era though the 80's were very much of excess of everything : money, drugs, power etc.. ) ... sorry I dont want to preach politics and i rather no one reply with any political answer so as not to start a debate... But i agree with Trix the age should be 18 (not that the 21 legal age stopped me when i was under 21 back in the day lol ) ....
