Where I live, the closest thing to metal that most people in the 12-20something age group listen to is stuff like slipknot and scene kid shit and stuff like that, and I know this one dude who siad that all the slipknot skater kids are becoming like, poseurs and shit although I give them credit for trying Slayer and Cannibal Corpse and stuff like that...But I still kinda fear what might become of the foreign bands like Amon Amarth and Opeth. I remember being 10 when these same dudes were all over Black Sabbath and older heavy metal bands and that was their 8th grade to freshman years and junior year rolls around and they become preppy blowhards who listen to crap music and they are reverting to "Br00tal" music and all that, which brings me to the title question plus another: Does anyone know true metal anymore? and Did your parents put you in front of the tv when you were a baby before or after they dropped you on your head? The way I see it people should give them lessions on how metal began and do nothing short of forcing them to listen to the metal that most people listen to, sure some variety is alright, but people need to know how misguided music-wise they are. I do kinda like Slipknot but I read their lyrics and they just put words that don`t make two shits of sense, and I look at lyrics for truer metal bands and their lyrics actually MAKE SENSE!!! KIDS IN MY GENERATION (Especially where I live) NEED TO KNOW THIS!!! They should take the time to read lyrics, and not just mindlessly do whatever without knowing what the hell the band is talking about. PLease leave feedback, thank you.
