Does anyone sing anymore?

I sing and scream, but I waaay prefer singing, and I'm told I'm much better at that anyways.

That being said, some of my favorite bands feature lots of screaming vocals (Arch Enemy, Soilwork, In Flames, Insomnium). Honestly, I only put up with the screamed vocals because the instrumentals underneath them are often so awesome. If I could have it my way, all those bands would sing with clean vocals.

I've never "liked" scream vocals, I've only grown from hating them to being able to put up with them. FYI I'm 21, so I'm definitely a part of the younger crowd.

I think you guys are jealous because my generations singers kick the crap out of your fag boy cookie cutter so called vocalists. Name one of your muppet's that can compete with the likes of Dio, Dickenson, Tate. Problem is you cant.

Max does quite well for himself.. and I can hold my own.. I have quite a range (F#2 to G#5 Full Voice) and am satisfied with the sound of my voice when singing live..

I did some tests for the Stars track on the Dio tribute but the bedroom/mic situation didn't work out (I could hit all the Shortino lines, but couldn't get a decent enough quality of recording to make me happy about putting it on the album, something weird with the high end in my shite mics/pre in the bedroom I was in at the time, it came out quite "ringy".. maybe I should have tried a closet or something...)

I can also run the scream gauntlet from Gurgle to Growl to Scream to Shreik..

NOTE: I realize that sounds really cocky but hey.. "He who does not tooteth his own horn, his horn go untooteth..."

EDIT: Though I will agree that bands with all screaming get a little old after any extending listening, but I'd never say that there are "no good singers" left...

What people don't realise about my joke about accordion playing hallucinogen playing unicyclists is that I was being totally serious.

Weeeeeeeeeeee

whats the problem with having screaming vocals or clean in 1 track? If the singer wants to make a point he will scream the words..

Its worse than this guy just whining; he doesn't get music. Screaming is a form of expression. Singing is a form of expression. Music is expression.

Exactly that.

THIS. Sometimes you wanna scream about shit sometimes you wanna sing about it. I don't see the problem with either as long as the person is doing it for the right reason (to express themselves). That being said I think with both screaming and signing there are good ways to do them and bad ways to do them. But people do what they feel like doing or what they feel the music warrants. People tell me I should sing more but frankly I feel like screaming so that's what I do.

I both sing & scream in my band.

and by the way. I'm getting sick of bands needing 6-8 people on stage because the singer is too much of a pussy to do all the vocals.
kids these days...
it's a one man job.

I may laugh about the screams and funny dance moves these guys do, but the reality is they are having fun, and thats what its all about.

I can respect that.
