I think its cool that a number of people are into Avernus. I haven't actually hear danything from them in a while, are they still together?? I remember the bassist joined Fleshgrind (yawn) and I have never heard whether they are still going or not. They were always great, and I never understood why they never caught on more.

I've been writing to Rick Yifrach who has just rejoined Avernus. He sent me "Where the Sleeping Shadows Lie" in return for some promotion in the UK. They are currently working on a new album which should be out early next year.

Ah, I can't wait to hear that. They have the poor fate of being from Chicago, where no one listens to anything but new school death metal, so here in the states they have just never caught on, I suppose. I've always thought they were great though.

That's really harsh. They are a class band, I would definitely put them up there with Anathema. I think they could do very well on these shores which is why I'm promoting them. The UK has a good doom following and some crackin' bands; Anathema, MDB, Cathedral, The Blood Divine, etc..... I think Avernus would fit in very well indeed and would sell quite a few cds. Here's to hoping.

i dont really know what doom is... ive heard some of these bands, but im not expert enough to feel comfortable tossing around subgenre names like that.... BUT the geeks at the college radio station told me that it would be ok to call Daylight Dies doom. everybody should listen to them and like them. their website has neat flash begining with music, so you dont even have to think to check them out.
