Dream Theater

I think I pretty much agree with this. Although I'll take "Through Her Eyes" over "Beyond This Life" or "Fatal Tragedy." And "Home" could have had a few minutes trimmed.

Reviving this thread,
have any of you'll heard Black Clouds?

SFAM is a great album as a whole, but personally I prefer listening to songs than to albums, and that album didn't have many good individuals songs (although a few are just amazing), and much of it does feel like filler material.

Overture + Strange Deja Vu = Some of the most awesome 9 minutes

I actually liked Systematic Chaos, specifically I found it quite interesting with the wankery with the Continuum on The Dark Eternal Night and The Ministry Of Lost Souls is a nice song. I hate the way they fuck up a song by wankery that is totally out of place and the same can be applied to that song.

So are either of those albums even close to their '90s output, or is this basically just comparing a brown turd to an orange turd? I haven't listened to either yet.

The new album fucking rules, don't care what anyone says. A top 3 DT album, easily.

I pretty much like about half the songs from the first two albums and from Train of Thought, think the last 3 albums blow except for like 2 songs from the whole set, and haven't heard a couple of the early/middle stuff (haven't heard SFAM or Falling).

The latter. The most embarrassing part is how 'metal' they're trying to be - the album is full of LaBrie and Portnoy trying their damndest to sound 'tough', much like Systematic Chaos. Avoid.

I thought the new album was even worse than Octavarium sadly.
That would make it their worst so far IMHO.
