While most of my stuff is tighter, they're not always so comfortable. I like to wear more looser jeans, but sometimes they look ridiculous.

Exactly. Back in the late eighties/early nineties skinny jeans were all part of the metal uniform. Apart from the hair, emos are basically wearing exactly what metalheads wore 20 years ago.
