I was on a long car-ride not too long ago and had it in me to listen to Deliverance, Ghost Reveries, and Blackwater Park in a sitting. I kept going into that car-ride sleep, where you don't recall losing consciousness but you must've dozed off because 15 minutes have gone by and you just looked at the clock a moment ago.

I became aware of being asleep in one of these episodes (after practicing lucid dreaming and whatnot for a while in the past few months), and I was hearing the song come through but I was unconscious. The distorted, majestic guitars were like an aurora borealis, and they sounded like they were saying "area". That's all I can remember, then I woke up and I forgot what song I was listening to. Do you have any dream-related Opeth experiences?

I fell asleep in a car once listening to The Leper Affinity. (It was really late.) My short dream wasn't anything special, though. Blurry people-figures and bright colors... I think I was in high school during the dream. Usually I don't hear music in my dreams (in one notable exception, I heard a nine minute non-Opeth song in its entirety).

no i never listen to opeth or any music when im drowsy. i dont drive, i cycle and i dont listen to music when i cycle. the only time i listen to music is when im jogging, and although thats tiring im nowhere near losing unconscious.

my dreams are always incoherent and i can barely remember them once i wake up, and ive never heard any opeth or other artists in my sleep

The first ever time I listened to Blackwater Park, I was on a bus and was weary like hell, so I fell half asleep (more like 3/4 asleep, actually). But when it came to the end of the album, I liked the ending riff ("sick liaisons....") so fucking much that I woke up :)

Usually if I can't get to bed right away, which is most of the time, I will put my MP3 player on and listen to whatever music I'm in the mood for. I never listen to it that loud, but I'll put something on like Emporer and people have asked me how I can fall asleep to such heavy music :). It doesn't get my heart racing or anything, I just what I'm into at the moment. There have been times where I went to sleep with a smile on my face because music is just so awsome! :kickass:

And to comment on what Annihilat0r said. There has been many times when I'm listening to a new album that I'm not really familiar with and out of my sleep I'll hear some kick ass riff or song and I'll have to wake up and see what song it is.

I don't recall any dreams that I had while listening to a band or song, but I'm sure I have had some.

Once I had a dream I was playing in Opeth! We were in some school auditorium. It was really weird because we were playing very simplistic songs and Mikael had to keep showing me what chords to play. I was embarrased as hell. I think I only played one song and woke up in shame.

I'm trying to learn Lucid Dreaming. Truth is I have enough trouble just making myself fall asleep. I've never fallen asleep to Opeth but I listen to them almost every night before I go to sleep and on occasion, Mikael, Mendez, or someone else from Opeth will be in my dream. NOTHING WEIRD OR SEXUAL! They're just there. I got bass lessons from Mendez once. It was awesome! But he was a shit teacher! :p

I have listened to Opeth while falling asleep. Many times I have drifted in and out of consciousness to Opeth. The first four albums are great for this, especially Still Life. I can unconsciously hear the music and it is an awesome way to experience the music. When I listened to Still Life I feel like I am the character in the story and wake up while the character is being hung. Awesome!

i once had a dream that opeth was playing at my highschool, and mendez couldnt play, so i filled in on bass. i dont play bass. but it worked.

I bet you could use For Absent Friends, Patterns in the Ivy, Madrigal, and Weakness as lullabies.

It happened to me two days ago, not with Opeth though. I was coming back home on the train, and was spinning Ayreon's 01011001 and Massive Attack's Mezzanine on my mp3. I kept falling asleep, I couldn't keep my eyes open, and I can assure you that Mezzanine was a bliss. Ayreon not so much, but that album is tied to me in ways that just go over musical expressions, and that was a trip too.

i love dreaming about music you're actually listening to as you sleep. i dream all sorts of weird things when that happens, the only problem for me is that i have a hard time falling asleep with muzak.

the devlab ambients should be awesome while sleeping, havent tried though.

but i once dreamt of no-mans pigeon drummer and truenorth and it was fucking magical...i even wrote lyric of what i dream, i shall post it later.
i've also dreamt about several porcupine tree and blackfield songs, i'm sure there's tons of music i've dreamt about...but i can't recall any of it right now.

hmm. not too long ago I was playing Ghost Reveries when I went to bed, but I don't remember dreaming anything specific. I fell asleep during Ghost of Perdition (I was very tired). I shall have to try again tonight.

I remember the very first time I heard 'Still Life' (back in about 2003 when I was around 16/17) I was very drowsy and drifted off at some point in the middle of the album. I woke up just as the distortion was coming in during 'Face of Melinda' and I can honestly say I have never, ever gotten chills to that degree in any of my music listening experiences in my entire life. It was so intense and my mind was completely blown!

I use to fall asleep to Damnation every note, which replaced the previous Pink Floyd ritual. I have dreamt while listening to Opeth, as well. It was on the couch at my girlfriend's house and My Arms, Your Hearse was playing. I was exhausted and started semi-lucid dreaming, which I often do without effort. In my dream I saw from the perspective of the ghost, and saw very detailed imagery.. like floating overtop of a house with stained glass windows, where I could see the widow weeping on the sofa. I kept have experiences in the dream where I would have the sensation of flying, and ascending which left me extremly dizzy when I woke up.I guess it was all subconcious but it was trippy.
