Fave Guitar Solo?

Well, "Freebird" by Lynyrd Skynyrd and "Stairway to Heaven" by Led Zeppelin are definite classics, but like someone said earlier, there are just too many guitar solos to name, and it would be impossible to decide which is best. For some reason though, the middle solo in Dream Theater's "Metropolis Pt. 1: The Miracle and the Sleeper" comes to mind, as well as the solo in "Fear of the Dark" by Iron Maiden...

The solo in G&R's November Rain will always be a classic.

One I love though is the solo in the section of Orion -by- Metallica that starts at about 6:50 into the song.

Can't get enough of that guitar solo :)

1) Iron Maiden-Powerslave
2) Deep Purple-Child In Time
3) Guns N Roses-Sweet Child O' Mine
4) Deep Purple-Highway Star
5) Led Zeppelin-Stairway To Heaven
6) Hammerfall-Hammerfall
7) Guns N Roses-November Rain
8) Helloween-Keeper Of The 7 Keys
9) Van Halen-Hot For Teacher
10) Michael Jackson-Beat It

Iron Maiden - Caught Somewhere In Time
Death - Trapped In A Corner
Morbid Angel - Summoning Redemption
Dissection - Unhallowed
Devin Townsend - Life

The firsts that came to my mind :)

Cacophony - desert island ... jason becer is thee man.
Symphony X - sea of lies ... micheal romeo's tapping solo is one of the most fluid and mezmerizing solo passage i have ever heard.
tons of solos, but i am not gonna try to name them all haha peace - ben

i absolutely love muhammed's solos from necrophagist
- fermented offal discharge
- advanced corpse tumor

but as for my favorite, i'd go with cryptopsy - phobophile
i'm surprised no one mentioned this

Most of my favorite solos came out of the 80's, but there are exceptions. A few of my favorite guitarists have too many to name, so I'll just name the band and guitarist.

Accept's Wolf Hoffmann was God.
Yngwie - many from his first three CDs, then he got stale.
Zep - Stairway
Vanden Plas - Cold Wind
Buck Dharma's solo on Hear-n-Aid's Stars (the old timer smoked all the young guns and got to play last)
Aerosmith - Combination
Blackfoot - Highway Song
Dio - countless solos with Viv was on guitar
White Lion - a bunch from Vito
Pink Floyd - a shitload from Gilmour

Of non-metal:
David Gilmour- Comfortably Numb (both solos, but outro solo is divine)

Of metal:
Any solo by Kristian Niemann. He is one of the most skilled guitarists around and he doesn't simply masturbate for six minutes. He plays short and to-the-point solos that perfectly complement the orchestration of the song. In my opinion, he's the Gilmour of metal.

Victor Griffin of Pentagram is my favorite. Best solos in songs Burning Savior and 20 Buck Spin.
Also Dave Suzuki of Vital Remains can belt out some good solos, my favorite is ending of Infidel.

Also, you pretty much can't argue back.
