Favorite guitar tone from Andy Sneap?

Listened to "The Gathering" again on my way to work this morning... yeah, definitely. Far from polished but very unique character.

"The End of Heartache" I don't think was done by Andy at all, actually...I think they were already all amped by Adam before the files ever got to Andy. And too muffled? No way, I think it's one of the most beastly tones ever recorded.
.

I don't understand, just cause he didn't actually dial in the amp, is he not responsible considering he did the actual final mix with all the e.q. and other shite?

Chimaira - Ressurection
or Job For A Cowboy - Genesis
genesis is still one of my favourite metal guitar tones 8)

DHDW for sure. It's heavy but so "smooth" at the same time, it's perfect, it's eargasm.

I do like genesis tone as well, it fits the style, a more "dark" tone, although I really think DHDW is one of the best guitar tones I've heard

DHIDW for me is in the top list! , Anthems of rebellion and Doomsady both sounds awesome too! and yes, Exodus tempo sound perfect for that album!
I think Andy's guitar souds are always perfect

doomsday has the best lead tone EVER.PERIOD. (at least for me)
the rhythm guitars are really good too.

Eh, I don't deny that it works, but as skeksis so rightly pointed out, I can't switch off my hyper-analytical ears, and after countless hours spent making countless clips of different mic positions, in that tone I definitely hear that cloudiness that comes when the mic is too far from the dustcap (and the associated lack of crispness); still crushes, but yeah, that's the one thing that holds it back IMO.

They use it for rhythms too. I know Adam used it on The Fall of Ideals for rhythm.

Nah as far as I know it was all SLO and maybe a little Recto or Triamp or something. But yeah mostly all SLO 100

Oh man, I just remembered when I listened to "The Fall of Ideals", I was struck at how it sounded like a 5150 with more of that amazing upper-mid chunk (not so much a crunch, but in a similar frequency), less of the fizz, and just so much more life, and I hear the same in the Holy Diver tone - Kyle, you may have an interested trader for your Avenger! :D

Earthtone 9 - Arc'Tan'Gent

It's probably my favourite Sneap mixed/produced album full-stop, and I'm betting most of you have never even heard it :p

Steve

Holy Shit, I had no idea ANYONE else knew about that album, that makes just me and you then:lol:
Shame they broke up years ago, they made cool stuff.
