Favorite guitar tone from Andy Sneap?

"The End of Heartache" I don't think was done by Andy at all, actually...I think they were already all amped by Adam before the files ever got to Andy. And too muffled? No way, I think it's one of the most beastly tones ever recorded.

DHDW for sure. It's heavy but so "smooth" at the same time, it's perfect, it's eargasm.

I do like genesis tone as well, it fits the style, a more "dark" tone, although I really think DHDW is one of the best guitar tones I've heard

Eh, I don't deny that it works, but as skeksis so rightly pointed out, I can't switch off my hyper-analytical ears, and after countless hours spent making countless clips of different mic positions, in that tone I definitely hear that cloudiness that comes when the mic is too far from the dustcap (and the associated lack of crispness); still crushes, but yeah, that's the one thing that holds it back IMO.

They use it for rhythms too. I know Adam used it on The Fall of Ideals for rhythm.

Nah as far as I know it was all SLO and maybe a little Recto or Triamp or something. But yeah mostly all SLO 100

Oh man, I just remembered when I listened to "The Fall of Ideals", I was struck at how it sounded like a 5150 with more of that amazing upper-mid chunk (not so much a crunch, but in a similar frequency), less of the fizz, and just so much more life, and I hear the same in the Holy Diver tone - Kyle, you may have an interested trader for your Avenger!
