Favorite Opeth tour...

Just a quick poll for all those lucky people that have seen Opeth more than a few times.

I've seen them on Blackwater Park tour and Deliverance. I must say I got a much better spot to stand, right up in front for teh Blackwater park show, but the experience and atmosphere we had in Cleveland for Deliverancee by far tops their first US tour. So I voted for Deliverance.

I'm sure for those who went to see them in Milwaukee, it was an experience in it self as well, being the first ever show in the United States.

I've seen them three times now. The first time was Milwaukee Metalfest at their first ever gig in America. The second was here in Minnesota on the Blackwater Park tour opening for Nevermore, but this last show I saw in Chicago on 1/27 was probably the best show I have seen by ANY band, and I've seen hundreds of shows, so I voted for this tour by FAR.

I saw the the Arizona dates for the BWP tour and the Deliverance tour and I'd definately say the Deliverance tour was better.. Though Im extremely happy to have seen both.

I had the good fortune of seeing Opeth at the Milwaukee Metalfest in 2000, as well as seeing them several times on the BWP tour, and once so far in 2003 (House of Blues Chicago 1/27)

I think they were fantastic on 1/27, and they played the tightest I've seen them so far. Hearing the two new songs was awesome as well....but I think as far as favorite tour, overall, I have to say BWP 2001 is still my favorite, at this time.
For one, they played with both Amorphis and Nevermore, which I thought were very good matches for them to tour with, and provided an exciting night overall. Secondly, even though I saw them in Milwaukee, really getting to see them play a full proper set on a large stage for the first time was very exciting....
and lastly, we actually got to open a couple of shows on that tour, and that was when I got to know them and spend time goofing off with them and whatnot, which will always be one of my fondest memories. So for now, that tour is definately my fave.

I saw them in St. Paul, MN on the Nevermore tour and Amorphis didn't play our show? Where they just on selected dates or something? I have never seen Amorphis and would have loved to have seen them. By the way, I have a question for you, have you ever played a show with a band called Epicurean? My friend Lance is in that band and said he thinks they may have played a show with you but couldn't remember so I figured I'd ask.

I voted for Milwaukee. I've seen them 5 times, and perhaps if some of the more recent performances had been far and away better technically than Milwaukee, I would've voted for one of them. But since they weren't, they're overshadowed by the excitement and anticipation in the air at the Metalfest.

I was at that show, and was blown away at the time because it was obviously the first time I (or any other American for that matter) had seen them live, but I have to say after hearing a bootleg of that performance it was kinda sloppy! Mikael has actually mentioned in a couple interviews that he thought it was sloppy as well. I think they were MUCH tighter this last time in Chicago, but that is just my opinion.

I saw them on the Blackwater Park tour and despite it being my first time seeing them it isn't my favorite mainly due to the fact that I wasn't as much of a fan at that point, how quickly things change. I voted for the latest tour because the 1/27 show in Chicago is far and away the best concert I've ever been too.

Amorphis played their first leg of the tour and then when they left the tour Nevermore stepped in. This is where they played some of the same cities again (though Cleveland got cancelled) Ah well I like Amorphis better anyway and I got to see them so that's cool. They played at least a couple off Elegy.. too bad nothing older though. Not that I don't like their newer stuff. I do, but I like their folk-metal stuff of the past, as well as their early deathmetal stuff.

Milwaukee was sloppy, but all the other tours have been pretty sloppy too (and I was at the Chicago show too ). Granted, not as sloppy, but not a big enough improvement to overshadow the excitement of that first show, is what I was saying.
