Its my least favourite symphony x album (apart from the first 2 which i havent heard yet), but im gunna vote for the relic. The opening powerchord sounds unbelieably fat and the rest of the song doesnt dissapoint.

I love Russell's vocal on Through the Looking Glass. I also just got a copy of that St. Paul show that was on ebay for a nanosecond. I can't believe how good they sound live, just spectacular.

I really don't understand why this album is considered a weak album by many! I think it's just as good as V & DWoT. anyone agree?

yeah, this album is really amazing actually....... I just wish the production was better........ Mike's guitar tone is a bit weak (not heavy enough) and Russell's singing sounds a bit weird (I can't pin point what it is)...... great album though. Tracks 1, 2, 4, and 5 were tough to choose from, but I had to choose Church of the Machine. It has great songwriting, and most of the instrumental sections sound a lot different than most other Symphony X instrumental sections.

I agree that this album has some awesome music and is full of great songs, but the reason it isn't praised as much is because the production is bad.
The guitar tone sounds weak, thin, and dirty.
Russel sounds sometimes like he's singing too far from the mic. It is as if there is unintentional reverb on his vocals, and the drums sound so thin they remind me of the crappy sound of Mikkey Dee's drums on "Them". Often, the snare drum gets buried in the mix.
I love the songs from this album, took awhile to grow on me, but I wish the production was better.
