First Ever Possible UM Trade Day

It makes the experience better by not knowing what your receiving, IMO. If you knew before hand, what's stopping you from downloading an album of theirs?

Well, if someone hates a certain band or something, shouldn't both parties be aware of that?

Well, I for one honestly think that the reason some people hate certain bands is because they have simply not grown accustomed to them. I know I'm very guilty of that myself... For example; how many times have you got something & disliked it only to come back to it 6 months later to fall in love with that same album??

I've done that a few times. Corrosion of Conformity is the most notable example.

I'm planning on trying to come up with a good mix of stuff that I rarely ever hear talked about here, but I putting a Dream Theater song on there just because so many people hate them & maybe if they listen to my one Dream Theater song on my mix I can convert one person.

Wha? Dream Theater are awesome!, I've never met someone who dislikes them!

May I suggest you put 'Pull Me Under' on there :)

A lot of people here hate them... And no way, they have way better songs. It sucks I really can't put "A Change of Seasons" on there because that shit is too long.

Don't go to the Megadeth boards then.

So lemme guess; They love Dave Mustaine's singing & out of key sloppy pentatonic/chromatic solos, but they think Dream Theater sucks because of James LaBrie's voice & John Petrucci's articulate shredding?? Yeah, sounds like I hit the nail on the head with that one.

Well, I think they should send them the song list before the CD is finalized, just in case there is something they KNOW they don't like and want it replaced with something else.

No. No song lists.

This is what I propose: All metal except for an optional 10% +/-5% non metal at the end of the CD. If I get a CD that is 50% goth, industrial, huey leweis, etc, and it is all mixed in, that CD will primarily act as a coaster. I think we need to stick with what we have in common, but then also add a small sample of something we think might help expand someone else's musical appreciation.

BTW I am in. I was kidding about wanting to receive but not give.

Ozz, :kickass: on your King's X comment. I repent for not choosing you in the best taste poll.

and we have done something similar to this before...when everybody was uploading their own mixes for people to download. that was good stuff.

Problem is, some of us here listen to stuff that 90% of other here have heard in terms of metal. I think it depends on who you get. If you get someone that you know has probably heard 95% of your metal collection, then opt for non-metal. In the opposite case, where they've only heard about 5% of your collection (or if they're Derek), send them mostly metal

Man, it's weird. I was trying to think of what I would put on this, and I can't find anything that I don't think you guys would have heard of. It's crazy, in real life, I'm considered a music mogul, no one has ever heard of half the bands I listen to, and my ipod is considered to have quite the impressive collection. People come to me to find new music, and I'm quite proficient at finding things they would like, regardless of genre...

then I sign on here and I don't know jack shit. I'm one of the least educated people in music on here.
Stupid people... being dedicated to your hobbies and such.

I wouldn't worry about it, man. Just because it seems like we have heard it all, we haven't. Collectively we have, but individually there are plenty of gaps. And if there is overlap, no biggie.

So maybe the pairings should be reviewed. Maybe random, then adjusted.

Meet me. Hi.

And tbh I really like the song Pull Me Under, but to me it is not representative. That song is a large part of why I have tried to get into them more than once, without success.

But I would still put a DT song on if you want.
