First "In Your Face"-single review (in finnish)

Children Of Bodom slashes their new Are You Dead Yet? -album to the stores 14. September. They have showcased their album already with the song Trashed, Lost & Strungout and on 17. August arrives also a single In Your Face. The song is a COBs typical melodeath, which has a strong keyboarmelody, sharp guitars and Alexi Laihos impressive vocals. Theres also a Censored Radio Edit of the song, which puts peeps on top of cursing words, that surprisingly well and smoothly fits the song and in some ways give the song some personality.

The singles shocking thing is however the Britney Spears cover Oops, I Did It Again. More amazing over the cover selection, is the songs implementation, which is surprisingly light. The womanvocalist that imitates Britney Spears sings the chorus and especially the chorus therefore goes almost as light as in the original version, even though there is plenty of electric guitars. Alexi Laiho sure does sing very brutally, but even that doesnt really make the song heavier. COB also puts their own finnish point of view of the dialog that comes after halfway in the song. Its hard to say, that is this just a pure joke or a snick against the small-minded listeners. When looked at both perspectives, the cover works very well, but still it would have needed a more COB-like touch.

In your face is an amazing song, groovy, catchy and simple and [a bit sad] long away from the original bodom sound.

The cover is funny but i think it is not well recorded as the other songs.

The censored version... well i'll have to hear it but i would be happier if in the single where inserted another cover and not 1 song and a- laugh one time when i listen to it- cover:err:

sorry for my bad english:Spin:

It is catchy. I have been singing I don't give a flying fuck motherfucker over and over at work and at my house. I can't stop.

I bet the Cencerd version is going to be like:

I don't give a flying fart motherfarter!

:D

I don't give a flying frick motherfreaker

That's the american edit. Knowing this country, fart is probably still considered vulgar and will damn you to hell if you say it.

I still hope it has some very cool party melodies included to balance the music. The theme on this album is self-destruction, which makes the music doom/trash/death but also gives it a touch of sadness. Very interesting..

Wasn't it already established that the censored version has BIG bleeps instead of the curse words?
