The first Are You Dead Yet? review

Maybe no one except me? I just got my original promo version of the album. I didn't listen to it yet but I think I feel ready and will do so soon. I'm gonna write a few words about it when I come home from Earthshaker festival.

Well a couple of things are bothering me....
First off, you revealed the cover song on the single, that was supposed to be top secret and now you get a promo...
You have a pretty good contact, who might find themselves neck deep.

Well, it doesn't change anything.. what bothers me is that we already know everything about the album, just that we haven't heard it.. it's taking a bit of the burning anxiety away of course, you know. The album's coming a month too late to me.

lol, I didn't reveal a secret. The record company revealed it officially and after I saw that I was just the first person who posted it here and on Scythes Of Bodom. There are a lot of other "secret" things I know and don't reveal them yet. And yeah, jealousy sucks.

I can't write too much about the album now and I really don't wanna analyze it. All I can say is: I like the album. Here are a few facts: The duration of the album is 37:21. There were no movie samples and Trashed, Lost & Strungout was exactly the same version as on the EP. It could be that the final album version will contain movie samples as well as the re-recorded parts of Trashed, Lost & Strungout.

Well, the version you've got isn't the one that will be in stores? I can't imagine there won't be any movie samples or such, just straight track to track shoot-out. Alexi said they'd definitely use movie samples. The Reaper speaking before the first song starts or something just gives it a good extra taste.. And I'll be super disappointed if they didn't re-record the vocals and leads for T,L&S. So that would mean the average length of the songs on the album would be 4 minutes and 9 seconds.. it's not that bad. Of course you've got a couple of songs that run 3 minutes plus and some that run closer to 5 minutes..

CoB songs that include a movie sample:

Deadnight Warrior, The Nail
Warheart, Black Widow
Follow the Reaper, Taste My Scythe
Sixpounder, Bodom Beach Terror / Angels Don't Kill

I'm thinking that a movie sample before T,L&S starts would be cool..

DO NOT READ THIS IF YOU DON'T WANT MORE INFORMATION ABOUT THE SONGS!!!

Ok, here are a few words on each song:

Living Dead Beat: Unusal beginning. But you will start headbanging after the first riff. Mid tempo song which doesn't has any fast parts like all other openers. Pretty modern touch. All in all fucking great!
Are You Dead Yet?: Slow parts after a fast beginning. Some melodies sound like Follow The Reaper. I had to get used to the chorus because it sounds like Soilwork. Excellent song!
If You Want Peace: A fucking headbanger with very aggressive riffs but also great melodies.
Punch Me I Bleed: The slow one. Reminds me a bit of Morbid Angel but the whole song has something of Hyprocrisy. Dunno if it will work live though.
In Your Face: My favourite song for now. Dunno what to say, it just rules!
Next In Line: A song with slow and fast parts and great melodies. Reminds me a bit to the Follow The Reaper album. The solos sound like in some Sinergy songs.
Bastards Of Bodom: Crazy beginning. It has one of the characteristic COB melodies and the verses sound like the verses of Northern Comfort. I can't believe how Alexi writes such catchy melodies.
Trashed, Lost & Strungout: Like the EP version which I always loved.
We're Not Gonna Fall: This will be one of the best live songs! Many parts remind me again to the Follow The Reaper album. Wonderful keyboards!

I don't know but maybe I like this album even better than Hate Crew Deathroll...
