It's been brought to my attention that a few people have tried to send e-mails to my acct., and it's either not made it, or has bounced back. Therefore, I am extending the entry deadline to Tuesday,Oct. 24th, at 2pm PST. Please try either of these addresses: steve@stevesmyth.com or esseness1@yahoo.com If you get a bounceback e-mail saying it was refused, please let me know on here, and we'll come up with another e-mail address.
I have received 6 entries so far, and it looks like from here, we've got 2 more we're waiting for. Let's get 'em in to me guys!:headbang:

Evil Pete, I have received your entry. Seed Awakener, I have not received yours yet. Have you tried both e-mail options, and if so, did you receive an error message? Please let me know, I'll be keeping an eye out for yours, and anyone else who is submitting, through tomorrow, by 2pm PST.

Awesome. Next time I'll have to remember not to drop the pick. Gaah, this off the cuff stuff is killing me.

Anyone else just improvise theirs? Just curious, as I noticed lordofthesewers implied that his was worked out.

Jeff

i worked mine out. I won't deny it. It is nothing to be ashamed of to work out solos. Skolnick works out his solos, jeff did on old nevermore records, hammett did, and many more, and even Steve said something like he worked out one of the psalm of lydia solos in GW.

I sat around and worked mine out in a bit of a daze after having my wisdom teeth out. Either way, no means of recording at all so nothing from me! :loco: It's no big loss, just one single B natural harmonic over and over... and over...

THOSE SOLOS ARE WORKED OUT!?

Seems like they wouldn't sound like cat shit.

For worked out solos, those are pretty bad. I think Fade To Black was pretty overrated, and I won't comment on the 'originality' of the Master of Puppets bit.

Mine was pretty much off the cuff - I cut out a section in the middle because the string popped out of tune, yes, but it's two takes where the second take is a replaying of the first one. It does, honestly, help when you have more 'modular' solos with breathing space between phrases, so then you can retune your guitar and few people will tell the difference. Gaah, I should just stop changing strings.

Jeff

Are you actually able to structure your improv? If I'm not happy with a solo I don't bother putting it together coherently - I just improv until I like what comes out and then hope I hit the record button already, I can't dream of actually redoing a solo and leaving anything in there because I'm never happy with what's come out. I'd love to know how to not throw things out the window upon hearing them, I never find myself able to 'release' something so much as throw it out on the series of tubes before I go insane doing it over and over again.

Mine started as an improv and turned into something structured thats pretty typical for the way i write solos
Mine was the same, done at half ten at night after deciding whether to chuck one in as I read the forum everyday but don't post often. The neighbours must have wondered what the hell was going on, all they would have seen is my head through the window doing porn star faces when I was hitting the high notes. When you're in the zone you're in the zone! Did anyone compare theirs to Steves?
P.s Steve did you get mine I haven't had an error message but just to be on the safe side.

Yes, I did work out a motif for the first part of my first solo, and knew I wanted to end that section with the notes I chose. The rest was improvised.
