G3

If Romeo ever were a part of it, it might up the SymX fanbase. But considering as he's not so well known as those such as Vai and Satriani, it would be very doubtful he'd ever perform as G3. That's not to say Romeo doesn't kick as much ass as the other guys :D Personally, I prefer him much over those others.

Paul Gilbert is cool, I hope I'll see him live some day (unfortunately G3 isn't going to come to Finland this year)

But yeah, it would be awesome to have Romeo with G3. Hasn't he said that he'll make a solo album now after Paradise Lost? Maybe if he gains enough popularity this might happen. (don't forget that the popularity of Sym X has been rising all the time)

Tony MacAlpine is already playing at G3 with Steve Vai, so I'd say increase is solo room and add Holdsworth and Alessandro Benvenuti

Jeff Loomis was an odd choice, he sucks compared to everyone else mentioned. Vai puts on the best show, Malmsteen had a great show too, but he picked the wrong songs. I'd like to see Buckethead, not the most energetic player there, but he'd be damn interesting. Petrucci is so bad at G3 it's funny. They could get a guitar playing robot called Petrucci-tron and nobody would know the difference.

I had a nice discussion with Steve Vai last June about IA & G3. I think it MIGHT happen eventually. I'd put up with 4 hours of Satriani just to see 45 minutes of IA & co. in that setting.

Becker is in a different league than those two, theres really nothing similar about Gilbert and the other two anyway, besides some neo classical stuff.

@ Harris:

Dude, I wouldn't care if it was Jason Becker playing with Madonna, if it meant the great man was up and playing guitar again...

I was thinking more in terms of the jam, I reckon those 3 guys would pull out some amazing stuff jamming together!

Yeah, but I mean as great as it would be, it lacks variety; that's part of what makes G3 so special.

i saw yngwie on G3... it realy sucked... i hate the whle throw the guitar around your back 18 times in a song thing. and he turns it all up too loud anyway. and whoever said he picks the wrong songs, i agree with that.

satch and vai were much better, particularly vai.

and about loomis being an odd choice, will have to wait for his solo album before i comment on that... most seem to think it has a very becker sound from the clips, so if it is very becker, it can't be bad.

Steve Morse , probably not one guitarist out there with as much of a solo type catalogue as him. He'd fit in well with all of his diversity. I like Di Meola as much as the next guy.. but not sure he'd fit in with the rock out type of style.

On a side note i've talked to a few people that have gone to some of this years shows.. and they are saying Gilbert is absolutely stealing the show.
