Gamers Thread

I got pretty bored with Xenogears. I know it was a PS1 game, but it was ugly to look at even then.

Still playing Okami. I'm pretty close to the end, just need to wrap up the item collection and stuff. I wish there were more games like this. People keep making retread FPS games, and not enough games with rich worlds and storylines.

So I started replaying POP2:WW yesterday, despite saying I wouldn't. Getting all the fountains. Been going pretty fast. In a couple hours I've gotten to a bit past the griffin thing.

FUCK.
I got all the life upgrades after getting the ninth one I accidentally exited that hall the wrong way and ended up in the place where you kill Shadee. Not so bad, right? There was a chest there, which indicated to me that it's okay to go back there. But now I can't get back! I went up on the ledges to get out of there the way you do the first time, but you can't go back to the place where you face the Dahaka the first time, so now I can't get back. FUCK.

The Xenosaga games are related; they are in the same universe technically, but weren't made by the same teams... Square made Xenogears, which is by far the superior, and I believe Capcom made the Xenosaga games.

While FF6 doesn't have the best story of the FFS, it does have a good amount of variety from the different abilities of the characters, and sheer amount of stuff you can do with them.

I heard that the first Xenosaga is still decent, and it can be found for $10 or less, so it's probably worth a gamble. Apparently the amount of story sequences you have to sit through are excessive and you barely get to play the first 3 hours or so.

I can deal with heavy amounts of story, (most recently for me, MGS 3) but I heard this was really over the top.

I did like that FFXII never made you sit through massive cutscenes. Then again, most people complained about the lack of depth in that regard.

I found the entire Xenosaga series to be highly enjoyable. Especially if you realize that 3 was basically 3-6 combined in to one, after 4-6 were canceled.

@WAIF- You should be able to get to anywhere in the game. You just have to look for a way to get back to the throne room... that's where the water sword is. If I remembered exactly where you were I could help you more, but it's been a couple of years since I played it, lol.

I know, and I spent a while working on this so I don't want to give up but I've been back and forth and there's no way out. I have access to the upper part of the Sacrificial Altar in the present but I can't leave from the exit you use as a sandwraith because Shadee has destroyed the upper level and I can't get back down to the floor. I also have access to the Sacrificial Altar in the past (where you first encounter the Dahaka) but I can't leave from the exit you use the first time (that leads to the Dahaka chase) and I can't get to the entrance you use as a sandwraith (although I suspect that would be of limited utility).

FUUUUCK.

Actually, WAIF, if I remember correctly there was a pretty big issue with that game about bugs that made it impossible to complete the game, or get all the stuff.

Blizzard's quality follows the awesomeness of their soundtracks. As the videos below show, Diablo III is going to fucking fail.

mannn that Diablo 1 music gets me all nostalgic. i was in 6th grade when i first played it. the Butcher scared the shit out of me. i remember feeling pretty leet when i duped Arkaine's Valor. and the Succubi where fuckin hot.

the Diablo 3 one sucks. nothing's even happening, just a bunch of ambient shit. ah well the game will still rule.

I should point out that Diablo III will have way more music than that, whereas that's about it for Diablo I. Diablo II had different soundtracks for different environments and Diablo III will be the same; that soundtrack might fit it's environment perfectly. Diablo II soundtrack was perfection, though.
