GMD Poll: Top Ten Albums of 1989

Solid top 10, but how the hell did Pestilence end up so high? Good album no doubt, but inferior to any of the other death metal albums that made the final list.

In four cases, the math doesn't look right for me, at least not, if I count the votes mentioned below the albums in concern.

"Beneath the Remains" got (3x10+2x9+8+3x7+6+4+3+4x2=) 98 points, whereas "Nothingface" only got (4x10+9+3x8+6+4x3+2+1=) 94 points, thus they both switch places. "Consuming Impulse" only got (3x9+2x8+6x7+5+2x4+4x3+2=) 112 points and thus drops one place. And "Altars of Madness" - though this won't affect its ranking - only got (5x10+6x9+8+3x7+6+2x5+2x4+1=) 158 points.

well i was the one who started the last few polls and yea none of your votes were counted in those. I'm pretty sure they were here though.

Just looked over it again and i think i've spotted a mistake. It looks like Beneath the Remains and Nothingface both have 98 points and should be tied.

Morbid Angel
4+9+5+6+6+7+5+10+7+9+9+9+10+9+4+1+8+10+10+7+10+7+9 = 171

Pestilence
9+8+2+7+9+3+4+3+4+3+7+7+5+7+7+8+7+3+9+7 = 119

Sepultura
10+7+8+2+10+7+9+3+2+2+2+4+6+9+10+7=98

Voivod
3+8+9+8+2+8+1+10+10+3+10+10+6+4+3+3+= 98

@Somethingface's votes counted this time.

Just double-checking all my maths now, I immediately see I fucked up Sepultura. I'll have all this fixed asap lmao.

@Burkhard your Voivod re-calculation is based on the 'voted for by' list I assume, which means you missed Somethingface's ranking of the album at 7th. My bad I forgot to add his name in that section, Voivod at 98 is correct.

Pestilence is also correct at 119, I forgot to put @Allfader's name in the 'voted for by' section so you missed his 7 points.

Same shit with Morbid Angel, sorry I just missed a bunch of names in the 'voted for by' section herp derp.

Consvming Impvlse is highly regarded. I'm not totally surprised that it made it to the top 10, but I'm surprised it bested Beneath the Remains, provided Sepultura was considered a top tier band with far more exposure and commercial acclaim, whereas Pestilence has been seen as second tier for most of its lifetime.
