This list isn't anywhere near as kvlt as the OSDM list. For shame UM, thought we was more underground.

Death metal is for plebs. Only the truest and most dedicated fans of kvlt explore tenth-tier thrash bands.

EDIT: And actually, I disagree anyways. In the grand scheme of each respective genre, Suffocation, Incantation, etc are roughly about Kreator/Sodom-tier. Holy Terror is more obscure than Demigod too, although maybe roughly on par with The Chasm in terms of UM-fetishization.

Yea right, first three Sadus albums are all better than anything Dark Angel has ever done. I love Darkness Descends... but i think it's a bit overrated.

What a beautiful fuckin' list to work with...

1. Rust in Peace
2. Reign in Blood
3. Ride the Lightning
4. Show No Mercy
5. The New Order
6. The Legacy
7. Beneath the Remains
8. Pleasure to Kill
9. Persecution Mania
10. Kill Em All
11. No More Color
12. Eternal Nightmare
13. Darkness Descends
14. Black Future
15. By Inheritance
16. Mind Wars
17. Master of Puppets
18. Spectrum of Death
19. Bonded by Blood

I'm going to leave Hell Awaits off because i don't want to put three Slayer albums in my top 15.

Every album on that list ranges from 5 to 4.5 stars for me.
I'm not counting your submission unless you have all 20 ranked

Edit: nm I'll just put HA at 20

Suffocation as Sodom-tier?

Oh my god, why don't people follow directions?

Do you people not read good? Why are you formatting differently than I asked?

It needs to be formatted like this:

1) Metallica - Ride the Lightning
2) Exodus - Bonded By Blood
3) Artillery - By Inheritance
4) Coroner - No More Color
5) Metallica - Master of Puppets
6) Testament - The Legacy
7) Megadeth - Rust in Peace
8) Morbid Saint - Spectrum of Death
9) Dark Angel - Darkness Descends
10) Holy Terror - Mind Wars
11) Slayer - Hell Awaits
12) Metallica - Kill Em All
13) Slayer - Reign in Blood
14) Kreator - Pleasure to Kill
15) Slayer - Show No Mercy
16) Vektor - Black Future
17) Vio-lence - Eternal Nightmare
18) Sepultura - Beneath the Remains
19) Testament - The New Order
20) Sodom - Persecution Mania

Decent top 20, but it sucks that we are still stuck in the 80's here. There are so many quality thrash bands from the 90's alone. At least Black Future made it in. Just because an album came out first doesn't make it the best.

1) Vektor - Black Future
2) Megadeth - Rust in Peace
3) Metallica - Master of Puppets
4) Metallica - Ride the Lightning
5) Metallica - Kill Em All
6) Slayer - Reign in Blood

19) Slayer - Show No Mercy
20) Slayer - Hell Awaits

But seriously man, what's up with all these annoying ass rules you keep coming up with ... "you must use brackets not periods!" Fuckin' really?

Yes. Lighten up, ofc I know it was a typo... :)

Edit: reason to it was that I also thought that the rule were that we were only allowed to edit two times (which would have made use it two times) but it was that we were allowed to change the orders twice so it was a misunderstanding from my part... ;)

Suffocation as Sodom-tier?

In the scheme of OSDM, I'd say the Teutonic trio is about on par the the -tion NYDM trio. That makes Florida equivalent to America, Death can be Metallica, Morbid Angel as Slayer, etc. I'm not talking about personal preference or global popularity.

Decent top 20, but it sucks that we are still stuck in the 80's here. There are so many quality thrash bands from the 90's alone. At least Black Future made it in. Just because an album came out first doesn't make it the best.

Nah, there's dozens of tech-thrash albums better than Black Future. It's still a very good album, but some of the older songs (esp ones like Asteroid) are pretty generic. There are definitely quality new thrash albums out there, but none of them have the originality or songwriting skills of the best of the 80s/early 90s.

You don't have to format it that way. I'm not that much of a jerk. It just makes it WAY easier if formatting is uniform throughout. I use Excel and 'Text to Columns' is very finicky.

If someone puts the numbers in brackets, I have to do text to columns roughly 4-5 times to get everything the way I want it. If it's formatted my preferred way, I end up doing it twice.

If you were the one doing it, you'd realize what a pain it can be sometimes.

Not many albums I really care about in this list, but since we have to rank 'em all, here's my list:

1) Testament - The Legacy
2) Metallica - Ride the Lightning
3) Coroner - No More Color
4) Metallica - Master of Puppets
5) Metallica - Kill Em All
6) Exodus - Bonded by Blood
7) Sepultura - Beneath the Remains

17) Sodom - Persecution Mania
18) Morbid Saint - Spectrum of Death
19) Holy Terror - Mind Wars
20) Artillery - By Inheritance

 Yea fucking right.

Black Future's "originality" and songwriting skills are being questioned?

That album can pound for pound stand up to some of the best thrash albums of the 80's and early 90's.

Aspid - Extravasation
Believer - Sanity Obscure, Dimensions
Coroner - No More Color, Mental Vortex
DBC - Universe
Deathrow - Deception Ignored
Destruction - Release from Agony, Cracked Brain
Obliveon - first two
Voivod - Killing Technology
Watchtower - both

That's 14 albums playing a roughly similar form of tech-thrash to Vektor easily on par with or superior to Black Future. I could hit 30 easily if I included tech-thrash bands playing a different style, like Anacrusis, Depressive Age, Despair, Invocator, Mekong Delta, Realm, etc. Many of the aforementioned explored more unusual melodies and had a more experimental approach to thrash than Vektor has ever shown. Like I said, I like Black Future on the whole quite a bit, but the riffing is still chuggier and more stock than the peak of tech/prog thrash. Honestly, I think my favorite thing about Vektor is the vocalist.

I didn't say they're the most technical or experimental .... or that they fuckin originated tech-thrash.

While BF and OI are both somewhat similar to the albums you mentioned, most of those have more in common with each other than Vektor. They clearly have their own sound.

And both of their albums are better than over half the stuff you have listed there(as awesome as most of it is), so yea they definitely deserve a spot on this list.

HB: I honestly like Black Future better than all of those, and I've listened to them all. Some are close though:

Aspid
Believer
Coroner
Deathrow
Obliveon

All of which were also on my top 30 list.

My comment wasn't just about tech thrash though. I said there were lots of quality thrash bands after the 80's which were just as good if not better than 80's thrash bands. Antidote - The Truth being one such album. You can also throw Havok - Time Is Up in there, Fueled by Fire, Hexen, Exmortus etc, all the newer stuff on my list in the original thread.
