Obviously make sure to hit up RYM yourself and search your favourite genres.

The deadline is 4th of October 2019.

The rules:
- submit at least 5 releases.
- first place in your rankings gets 10 points, 2nd gets 9, etcetc, 10th gets 1.
- feel free to post more than 10, but only the top 10 will get points.
- feel free to post less than 10, the same scoring will apply.
- feel free not to rank your picks, in which case all ten picks will get 5.5 points.

GNMD = General Non-Metal Discussion, so NO UNAMBIGUOUSLY METAL ALBUMS are to be included in anybody's list.

Genesis--Trespass
Fotheringay--Fotheringay
Pentangle--Cruel Sister
Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young--Déjà Vu
Jethro Tull--Benefit
Pink Floyd--Atom Heart Mother
Led Zeppelin--III
Neil Young--After the Gold Rush
Sir Lord Baltimore--Kingdom Come
Traffic--John Barleycorn Must Die

This was a hard one, lots of good stuff. Some of these feel too easy, like CSNY and the Neil album, but they hold significant places in my musical education. It also feels like a shame to leave off Tim Buckley, King Crimson, Caravan.

Damn son, honourable mention for Pendulum but no mention whatsoever for Cosmo's Factory. That's cold.
Oh whoops. I originally had Lucifer's Friend at #10, but subbed it out for Cosmo's Factory (my favourite CCR album). Dunno wtf happened when I copied + pasted that shit.

This might be on my list but it's tagged everywhere as heavy metal, so I'm wondering how others feel, otherwise I'm throwing it on mine too.
Surely not, there was no such thing as metal pre-Sabbath.

I'll swap it if the consensus is it shouldn't count, but I kinda think that's horseshit.

But then, I'm probably an outlier who thinks it's horseshit that Sabbath shouldn't count either. It feels less like an assessment of musical qualities and characteristics than an obligatory honor bestowed upon the Great Old Ones of heavy metal.

By the time Kingdom Come came out, Sabbath had already released two albums haha.

It does suck to leave Sabbath out of these games knowing there will probably never be a metal round for these early 70's years, or at least one worth doing. There aren't enough choices, so these albums just go unlisted anywhere.

Fun House is one of the few albums I own on every format and have had to replace a couple times in my life from wearing them out or losing them at parties, as far as important albums throughout my life this is right up there, loaded with good and bad memories, good and bad associations, a shitload of nostalgia and everything else in-between.

*removed Deep Purple and Sir Lord Baltimore as per "no metal" rule.

I'd be inclined to run with the heavy metal tag Kingdom Come has as primary on RYM, but maybe as a personal choice thing rather than outright exclusion. When we did 1972, some users listed Machine Head, while some left it out along with a couple of others. But we left things out because they have enough metal elements to be used in a 70s poll, not because they're "unambiguously metal".

Think @no country for old wainds or someone floated the idea that we'd do a top 20 metal albums of the 70s. There are plenty of choices for that in my books.
