Theres a lot of prog rock this year.
God I went back to that Kristofferson album and goddamn if it ain't one of the most intelligent country albums I've heard.

I'd be inclined to run with the heavy metal tag Kingdom Come has as primary on RYM, but maybe as a personal choice thing rather than outright exclusion. When we did 1972, some users listed Machine Head, while some left it out along with a couple of others. But we left things out because they have enough metal elements to be used in a 70s poll, not because they're "unambiguously metal".

Think @no country for old wainds or someone floated the idea that we'd do a top 20 metal albums of the 70s. There are plenty of choices for that in my books.

I was looking over my ratings and it looks like even if we do a game for the entire 70's, I think 1979 has enough metal to have its own game. Thoughts anybody?

I dunno. Kinda mucks up the niceness of doing the decade as a whole. I might be able to do some listening and scrape 10 together for '79, but the pickings are very slim so it's not as if the year would dominate the decade too much.
 
Oh man, forgot about Allman Bros & Capt. Beefheart. Wouldn't have cracked my top 10 though.
