GNMD Poll: Top Ten Albums of 1978

Great year to kick things off on.

1. Rush - Hemispheres
2. Devo - Q: Are We Not Men? A: We Are Devo!
3. Kate Bush - The Kick Inside
4. Funkadelic - One Nation Under a Groove
5. Penetration - Moving Targets
6. Peter Hammill - The Future Now
7. Elvis Costello - This Year's Model
8. Chaka Khan - Chaka
9. Ryuichi Sakamoto - Thousand Knives of Ryuichi Sakamoto
10. Quazar - Quazar

Probably subject to change. I don't usually evaluate albums of different genres against each other, so I feel like 5 through 10 could almost just as easily be flipped around.
Funkadelic, my brother. Outta sight.

In no country's game we've tended to figure out for ourselves whether to include an album or not. As long as nobody's using the same albums across both games it should be ok. And even if they do, any goofs can be excluded from a final tally so they'd just be wasting their own time.

The reason I ask is because there's only 12 heavy metal albums listed on RYM. Either they should be allowed or there should a "banned" list to avoid lack of clarity.

I think that Quiet Riot album is more on the rock/'non-metal' side, but I'm not a fan anyway. Conversely, I'd consider keeping the likes of Budgie - Impeckable off my list here with the hope of sneaking it onto a metal list later. It's not their heaviest by any means but it has some parts that compete with the metal of the time:

Similar case with Bow Wow - Guarantee:

I won't be able to participate in this round. The only artists whose music I really enjoyed in the 70ies were Elvis and Abba. Later on, I also discovered early Genesis, Nektar and Kate Bush. It's nice to see the latter has already appeared in three lists. If I could come up with the minimum number of albums to participate, I would most likely put "The Kick Inside" at no. 1.

1 ac/dc - powerage
2 jethro tull - heavy horses
3 u.k - u.k
4 flora purim - everyday everynight
5 brand x - masques
6 frank zappa - studio tan
7 al di meola - casino
8 bill bruford - feels good to me
9 weather report - mr gone
10 dixie dregs - what if

Kept Budgie in and made a couple of discoveries to buff it up. I could tell just by the front cover that I was gonna like this one:
