He was good, but he's nowhere near the elite.

I'm also really surprised I'm the only one to mention Loomis at all. His guitar is the only reason I have to listen to Nevermore.

Depends on what you consider a great guitar player. Ya there are other guys like Malmsteen with superior chops but when it comes to songwriting they lack and are a bore to watch in concert. Dream Theater, extremely technically talented, no question. But afterawhile...zzzz, The songs become boring. They get into their own little world and lose the audience..Like I said Dimebag was a good mix. He kept ya interested.


oh yeah Jeff Loomis is great. Zero Order Phase is an awesome instrumental CD. If he left Nevermore...well..
