Oh yeah the new Phobia album is nice. Thanks for the rec, I would forget about the band. I'm now listening to the Torch Runner. Maybe you guys would like bands like Sex Offender, Sea of Shit, Socially Retarded or New Lows? I've been listening to these hardcore/powerviolence/grind mashups and enjoying it.

As far as Napalm Death goes, I respect the classic albums and everything, but I don't listen to them regularly either.

Do you guys know Knelt Rote? It's a US grind/noise band that got signed to NWN recently. They sound really evil, relentless and even the fago-nwn-people like their shit. They kick a shitload of ass grind-wise + they have ugly noise bits in their albums.

I still like these names more than the long ass ones like Flagitious Idiosyncracy in the Dilapidation or Mincing Fury and Guttural Clamour of Queer Decay.

I just found out about these guys, fucking awesome.

Cutterclit is awesome! One of my favorite czech grind albums. The samples there are taken from old czech movies/series and they are ACTUALLY very fucking funny in combination with the music. One of the rare instances where I don't mind a sample being used in every other song.

Bands that seem like they took everything from opening up a medical dictionary and pulling out random words just aggravate me. Disgorge (Mex) was probably the worst offender at this in their early days. It's like the gore equivalent of Behold... the Arctopus, or Godspeed! You Black Emperor. Pure pretentious nonsense.

No lie, the first time I saw MFaGCoQD I thought it was a split album because no way in fuck was that a single band name.

A lot of the bands are kinda tongue in cheek with the lyrics, or they're foreign so they don't really speak English to begin with.

My favorite grind bands are the ones that aren't about being gross as they are about being dark. Circle of Dead Children, Phobia, Nails, The Secret, Dragged into Sunlight (blackgrind?), Pig Destroyer, bands of those sorts.

Squash Bowels is an exception for me. Grindvirus is just SO gnarly, I can't hate on 'em. Plus the way it's put together it's obviously not TOTALLY serious.

MOSTLY. It's... weird. Like, musically I like goregrind to bits, but the lyrics and such just irk me. I even LOOOOVE some Disgorge Mex (though that's more deathgrind, yah?). Also I hate pitch-shifted vox 99% of the time. It just sounds dumb. Like the metal equivalent of auto-tune.

But my problem with a lot of grindcore is it just doesn't have that MEAT to it sometimes, y'know? Part of that is that it seems like a lot of bands don't have a bassist (PxGx, Wormrot), but good ol' goregrind is just sooooo heavy and dirty I get a big headbang-boner.

I totally get what you are saying. The way you feel about Goregrind, is the way I feel about 90% of black metal. I cant take the whole corpse paint and worship satan nonsense.

Yeah, I dont eat meat so thats fine with me I feel the same way about a lot of crust and power-violence. The same song will bore me on my record player, but will get me fucking moving live. In comparison to other genres, grindcore and goregrind have been lacking in releasing new awesome shit. Maybe I need to look harder but I just get discouraged because very rarely do I find one that sticks...But when I do, shit is the fucking cats meow.

There've been a couple good grind releases lately, but yeah. Feels like it's been slowing down. New Phobia was good, New Catheter is supposedly great, I thought Utilitarian had an AMAZING opening track and just fell off from there, General Surgery didn't do much for me. I thought Cripple Bastards had one but can't find info on it.

Because many of the bands, especially in the case of black metal, take it DEADLY serious. That's not a lighthearted tongue in cheek genre 95% of the time and hearing a gorgeous album then seeing dudes making scary faces with wacky paint and cliche fetish gear, and MEANING it, kinda tarnishes the experience.

I like my music. Bands that are just having fun? I love that shit. There's a difference and I don't know how you didn't catch on to that.

That response was pretty stupid overall. I should stop listening to music I love because I don't like the overdone theatrics? What? That's like saying I should stop watching my favorite tv show because I don't like that the main actors are in a different political party than me.

I try not to read up on actors politics, and I don't dive into metal bands and their goofy makeup.

I agree with this, actually. It's not as serious as everyone takes it. It's fun, it fits the music, and often it adds to the awesome. When I pop in a Horna or Sargeist album, I picture their corspepaint immediately with the music and it fits. And it's not because the bands are being to serious. If anything, often the corpse paint is just a standard of enjoying what you do that bands have latched on to because they understand that it's fun. Ugh...I am drinking, but basically Onder said what I'm thinking but can't type out right now.
