Guitar Tone Competition 2

I'm working solidly up to christmas. Unless I can re-amp during one of the bands sessions (;)) then I dunno if I can get a submission in... :bah:

Anybody else think they probably don't like those mustaine livewire pickups very much? I've been messing with the DIs and I can get a guitar tone with them that I like, but not one that I love.... and I think that is due to the pickups that were used probably :/

I think there's a good chance that whoever wins will be someone who retracks the guitar parts with a different guitar...

So far no one has retracked.

The Livewires are pretty awesome pickups. I doubt they're causing an issue. I've heard nothing but nice things regarding the quality of the DIs from people so far.

Also, I track all of my tone tests with those PUPs and everyone seems to like them so...

then, if you let them retrack why do not let edit the performance?? this is just curiosity

A different performance which could be better or worse could influence how the guitar tones are perveiced. This is about tone, not about playing. We want to keep everything besides the tone as constant as possible for accurate representation of the guitar tone.

Yeah, i see that, but if so, why to allow people to retrack?? is impossible to play in the same performance, and a little difference could brings a huge difference to the perceived tone.

By the way, can you guarantee the retrack files will be not edited??? And can guarantee that better performances (than DI that was provided) will be not in the contest???

Yeah, i see that, but if so, why to allow people to retrack?

Because some people want to use their physical amps, but don't have reamping capabilities. The retracked performance should be as close to the supplied tracks as your skills allow, like it says in the OP. You are not allowed to edit the DI-tracks that greg supplied if you are going to use them.

PS: ...and good luck doing a better performance than greg ;)

Just a side note...its amazing to me that people still use things like Dropbox when you can get storage space for 2 bucks a month and in some cases free. The last competition is now in oblivion and utterly useless to anyone because it has timed out.

Dont mind me :) it just one of my hangups on the net. People will go through all the trouble of using these hack tools to save themselves the price of an ice cream

Yeah, I got it, i'm sorry to be anoying...but isn't it too subjective?? the people who retrack should record slowly and then stretching the audio files (then they will be able to get a better sync than Grag's DI files) and anyone won't notice for sure.... and i'm almost sure they will be able to edit and anyone won't notice too... am i wrong???

I edited my DIs a little before I sent them to Anssi. I also mentioned that. I obviously played them pretty well, but they were aligned a bit.
