Heathen Crusade round deuce

Is there any return on being a sponsor? Explain the rules please.

If it's like being a sponsor for ProgPower, then it goes like this:

You pay the promoter a buttload of money for the privilege. If you're lucky, you can negotiatie with the promoter to book a band you want to see for putting the money into the festival.

Your logo gets put at the bottom of the official T-shirt.

You get to watch all the soundchecks if you want to show up six hours before doors open. If you want to show up ten hours before doors open you can watch the crew sweating because the equipment hasn't arrived yet. :D

You get to hang around backstage and eat the bands' food.

You get to go to Publix and buy a sub and a half gallon of milk and bring it in the venue even though NO OUTSIDE FOOD OR BEVERAGE ALLOWED (negotiation and "Don't you know who I am?" conversations with the doorman required. :))

If there's a VIP room where the musicianfolk get to watch the show without interacting with the masses, you get to watch the show from there as well and check out bandmembers snogging on their new female companions.

You get to shoot the shit with the vendors as they are loading in and setting up their tables. They appreciate the conversation at such an opportune time. :)

Most important: You get a table to hawk whatever wares you have to hawk, which means people come to you and tell you how cool they've always thought you were throughout the years of reading your stuff. And then you guilt them into buying a T shirt because you're frickin broke. :D I've found you can recoup airfare and hotel expenses this way but not the sponsorship fee so you'd better fill up at the catering table to get your money's worth. (OK, I only did the catering thing the first year and it was two pieces of chicken only... it was cold.)

Wow, well we are not at the level of a ProgPower, that is for sure. But JayKeeley (or anyone else for that matter), if you are really interested in talking about it, send us an email at info@heathencrusade.com

you definitely do...

it's just that this stuff is so much different from the demo, and I'm having a hard time not sucking at guitar. using cubase and setting up microphones and audio interface gear is pretty frustrating when you don't know shit about shit. FUCK THIS YOU GUYS, I'll record it just liek the demo in ACID. Crappy production, loud and lame drums, weird drop-offs, and plenty of guitar errors.

no, not really. actually the only thought keeping me going is that "Aurora" will sound ridiculously good with Erik's vocals. SONG OF THE YEAR, YOU'LL SEEEEE

thoughts?

Agalloch, Woods of Ypres, Angantyr, Aeternus, Dornenreich, Dissilusion, Taake, and hell, maybe even Sol Invictus or In Gowan Ring to mix it up. Pretty please? With a cherry on top?

i thought i was going to do the mixing

yes indeed- certainly better you than me. just saying, recording is really rough business. i fucking worship you for cranking out awesome-sounding songs in just hours... it's insane.

hanks for all your band requests, we are considering all of them. But as before we can only bring over 2-3 bands ourselves so we have to choose who we think people want to see most (and our personal opinion goes into it too of course).

But if any of you really want a specific band, you can help make that happen by sponsoring them. That basically means providing financial support to flying them to Minneapolis. If you are interested in doing something like that, send us an email. info@heathencrusade.com

I'm guessing since your audience in younger than Glenn's (ProgPower), sponsors are harder to come by. Is that a reasonable assumption?

Zod

True. Younger, and at this time, smaller in number. But hopefully it will continue to grow.

And of course this applies to any band that needs to be flown in, whether international or domestic?

Jesus, I just looked at the driving distance to Minneapolis from:

- Portland [25 hours or 1730 miles]
- Toronto [ 12 hours or 972 miles] *
- San Francisco [29 hours or 2045 miles]

* ding ding, we have a winner. :tickled:

I think you guys should be able to grow this thing. It seems like it's a genre that's building momentum. Of course, it's not my money at stake. That said, I appreciate that there are folks like willing to do what you do.:kickass:

When it's time to promote, if there's anything I can do to help, please let me know.

Zod

Kupshi/Mister Mayhem let me just say I have the utmost respect for you guys. Bringing back this one day festival in light of not cutting a profit from last years, is quite commendable. :kickass:

All you RCer's need to save up a little change and make your way to MN. An audiogenic orgasm lies waiting for you in the vast tundra of Minnesota wilderness. :kickass:

i wanted to go soooo bad last time but the winter semester had just started. why chop off a large portion of potential long-distance attendants by placing the fest during the school year? i mean, students are the ones with all the disposable income are we not?
