Heaviest Song Ever!

I feel that honorable mention should be made to a few other songs. Yeah, it's all old school, but they don't make it like they used to, in terms of sheer heaviness. Sure, Andy Sneap can make anyone SOUND heavy... But I'm rarely moved by the heaviness of modern metal anymore...:(

Ripping Corpse - Feeling Pleasure Through Pain
(Erik Rutan's first(?) band. This album is FULL of sickeningly heavy riffs. Awesome.)

Grave - Into the Grave
(Or almost anything from their first two albums...)

Pestilence - Out of the Body

Anyone saying Black Sabbath is retarded. lol

That's my OPINION.

Heavy to me means it makes you want to break shit...or like someone took a sledgehammer to your skull.

Lots of heavy/brutal bands out there for sure, but some are better than others due to songwriting, they really know how to pack a whallop instead of just blasting beats.

Cannible Corpse and Behemoth are the heaviest most brutal sounding bands I've heard. CC live in concert was merciless.

Black Sabbath is heavier than Behemoth and CC. :)

BTW, CC and Behemoth isn't anywhere near the most brutal sounding bands ever.

Heavy to me means, that it has a heavy tone and maybe a dark feeling also sometimes.

Black Sabbath and Candlemass are the heaviest sounding bands I've heard. Black Sabbath live was really fucking heavy!

IMO Heavy means "loudest sounding", to achieve this sound the music has to shatter your ears and feel the sound is penetrating in with a powerful manner usually with the aid of distortion. Fast music like Slayer is too fast to deliver that penetrating sound. Songs likew Sweet Leaf, After Forever e.t.c deliver the Heavy sound through penetration.

IMO I think being heavy has all to do with how low tuned and how fast. To me I think it doesn't matter. Obituary is heavy as fuck. As is Pantera. But that's just me.

Well it sounds like all you made up your minds that heavy=sludge sounding.

Not much of a debate or discussion if that's the case then so have fun!

If that's the "criteria" then Grave or Candlemass or Down or some shit like that with distorted guitars. Personally I can't stand that sound. And even if I agreed that, that sound was "heavyiest" in all of metal, I wouldn't call Black Sabbath the heaviest. lol

Warpigs...give me an effing break.

So what band do you think is the heaviest?

Warpigs is a heavy song. But songs like Sweet Leaf, Symptoms of the Universe, Electric Funeral, Heaven and Hell, I, etc are probably some of the heaviest shit ever.

I don't know if anyone mentioned this; Watching From a Distance--Warning. The whole fuckin' album. The doom riffs are the heaviest most obliterating I've heard. Mournful and full of sorrow.
