Heavy-hitter DI shootout! Also, my best Recto tone yet!

Ok, well I won't reveal the results yet, but I will put in my impressions:

For the EMG, you guys are crazy if you think there's anything more than a 1% difference between A and B - I'm listening in my semi-treated room on good monitors that I know pretty damn well, and they're damn near indistinguishable (performance notwithstanding). C on the other hand is thinner and harsher IMO, so I really don't like it.

For the Dimebucker, I feel B is indeed the most muffled and my least favorite, but not by much, goddamn - A is the best, then C close behind (still a bit thin/harsh, but not as noticeable/bothersome to me as with the EMG).

And still waiting on Bernhard, Damian, Joe (Davis), Mike, Stee, and other dudes who I'd consider chums ;)

Hmm...I pretty much agree with Ermz on all points in that passive pickups may generally show more of a difference compared to EMGs. The difference(s) between them all seem pretty negligible to me really. I really thought there was going to be a huge difference the higher the price tag. I wish I would have sent you this Whirlwind IMP-2 I've got here so I could tell where it stands...but judging from this I would venture to say it wouldn't be too far off from the same performance as the big boys. It may sound a little whack to say this, but...I'm hoping the reamp shootout is along the same lines so I can really rest easy for buying the RMP instead of a Reamp or X-Amp or anything. I haven't been disappointed in my RMP in the least bit...but for some reason I think I'm jealous of you RedEye et al owners on a very subconscious level :p

Haha, believe me man, I would LOVE for the ProRMP to run with the big dogs, it's always awesome to discover a bargain!

I could post a few DI clips of different guitars and pickups I've recorded through the high impedance input of my Emu 1616m for comparison. If you're interested, of course. Most would be playing different things, though ;/

And a different guitar, too - thanks, but I don't think it'd be scientific enough. However, I should've done a take going into the inst. in on my Onyx Satellite as a baseline :erk: Oh well, trust me on this, the Redeye sounds better than that!

Soon grasshopper, soon :D I just want more guesses! And just wait until I get the re-amp box shootout up in about a week!

Haven't gotten to do an in-depth listening session yet, but if you reveal the answers it wont affect my results, as I have randomized the clips in my DAW and saved the session :D
