Help convince me to go Mac...

Cant someone close this damn thread down, the OP made up his mind ages ago, and it has turned into a load of pointless drivel thats of no use to anyone. Its just inspiring irelivent mac and pc bashing.

Everyone grow the fuck up, if you like Macs then keep it to yourself, and same with PC's.

TRUTH

yeah ya'll.... let's not discuss anything engaging, entertaining, or my goodness... contentious. and let's also get rid of all, the sharp corners in our studios too. they make rubber fittings for those.

I said "working on a MAC for over TEN years". The first computer I ever owned was a MAC. Maybe you should build your own PCs piece by piece like I do, then maybe you would see what a real computer can do. But I understand the mentally challenged might have difficulty doing that and need to use a MAC like yourself.

DAMN dude, easy...

Yeah...

Know what? Around me, people look at computerusers in this way:

Unix/Linux/whatever guys: The real codewarriors. They just understand too much. They see computers as they really are, and are able to tweak them on codelevel.

WinXP: Shitty consumerstuff, but with a big userbase of smartasses who know quite well how to get over all the stupid addons an strip them down to real workmachines, and the prousers benefit from that.

Macusers: Guys who really haven't got a beginning clue about how these machines operate inside but shure as hell wish they would. They leave all the coding to Jobs and brag about their saviour. Religious fanatics who try to travel on the knowledge of their master and look down on those who achieve what they can't: REAL inside knowledge.

I know how to calibrate any Studer, I read SSL schematics. Pretty simple once you understand it, but for some people it will always remain a stunning mystery. And that's were it becomes religious.

Does anyone have an opinion on the new macbook pros for mobile rigs? I am considering purchasing one to upgrade from my Powerbook. The lack of FW400 is a bummer to me and I don't want to run into any issues with it. I thought about getting a FW card for the Express Card port to remedy the issue, but I am not sure if it would just be smarter to use a FW400 to FW800 cable. I could just get an older version of the MacBook pro, but wasn't there an issue with the FW chipsets?

When the new imac's get released (in January apparently), do they drop the prices of the older ones? I'm just concerned that they won't include firewire, like the new macbooks.

For the record. I wasn't saying that either MAC or PC is better. I just hate it when someone states something in a conversation like this as fact, when it's just their own personal opinion as Kazrog did. That's all this entire conversation boils down to. Personal choice between platforms. I have to go back and forth all day long between PCs and MACs. For myself, I prefer PCs, but some people I work with love their MACs. Now a days, it really doesn't make much difference because the MAC hardware is no different than the PC. Who really cares? Use what works best for your own needs!!!

LOVED this, and very suiting. Thanks for posting!

The hardware isn't the difference - FUCK AGAIN. It's the fact that OSX is made to take advantage of the hardware. Win = bottleneck.

GOD DAMMIT.

And I like the dude complaining that iTunes doesn't work on a PC. Last time I tried to even open iTunes on a PC it took ages, just pops the fuck UP on my Macs.

You have to agree though that that is an itunes problem as opposed to a windows problem :)

Fcking hell, everyone getting excited about this thread and defending code needs to chill out, read the thread and figure out that not everyone likes what you like :)

I prefer windows, i like macs but wouldn't buy them cause windows runs perfectly for me :)

Some people have shitty win experiences... some people have great ones... Some people just fellate macs cause Mr SJ tells them to...

And i own an Iphone...

BE AWARE.

Algere firewire, rumoured Nvidia chipset (the code is already in the Apple drivers).

Both are a big bummer in Digi's book.

You can change the FW, but you cannot put another chipset in...

Yeah, hardware like Nvidia and Algere.

With XP YOU decide what hardware goes in, on OSX Steve Almighty does.

I'll give you that, wouldn't say anything to the contrary. But I don't use WMP on my Macs either. Go figure, an application developed by Apple runs shitty on Windows, and an application developed by Microsoft runs shitty on OSX. WOW I'M SUPER SURPRISED BY THAT. Do I complain though?

I think I am gonna go with the older model macbook pro as I found them for much less and similar specs. But I will have to be aware of the FW chipset issues. Is there a site that goes into details of the problems and stuff so I can read about it?

I would hope that Digi has a fix for it but who knows.
