dude morfiend, give us a detailed account of the show (opeth's set at least) if you can! if you're tired we understand :)
I'll leave that to someone else but here are a few little tidbits -

Crowd chanted for Freebird and Sweet Home alabama a few times and Mikael at one point said "You know, sometimes people have mistaken us for Lynyrd Skynrd" and then played the beginning riff of Sweet Home Alabama :D

Someone in the crowd said "swedish metal rules" and Mikael said "not all of it is" LOL. Someone also yelled out that Opeth is the best and then Mikael said "No Hammerfall is", then someone yelled out Manowar in which Mikael replied "I like Manowar but....they're so cheesy!" lol

Mikael said they were really nervous before playing The Moor, April and Blackwater and he apologized in advance for fuckups lol.

Anyway, I'm sure someone else will give a very detailed long review soon.

here's the correct order...

Setlist is as follows:

Master's Apprentices
Drapery Falls
The Moor
Windowpane
In My Time of Need
April Ethereal
Deliverance
Blackwater Park

Encore:

Demon of The Fall

Could you tell if many people left after Devildriver were through?
no way man, a shitload of MORE people filtered in before opeth came on. i think alot of the crowd chilled in the bar during moonspell and devildriver (who both pretty much sucked imo, the singer for moonspell looks like a total goon on stage.)

Opeth were greatness. I pissed the midget from Devildork off. He kept coming up in from on me so my brother and I tried to take his backstage pass and shit. He tried to give me five then I moved my hand away then shook my head. Started giving me not-so-happy looks as I took my boredom out on him.

Right when Opeth come out my bro and I started cheering for Martin. Other people joined in and he looked happy. He rules the whole night. One thing that sucked about the show... Fat, retarded, assholes. I waited for 6 hours to see Opeth front center. During the first song this retard started elbowing me and fighting me to get up front. Finally after putting me in headlocks and shit he got in and continued being an asshole. He was flipping off opeth and kept say "play...(don't remember), BITCH". It was funny when Mike heard it and laughed then said "bitch". The security guards want to kick him out but there is no way to do it. After Windowpain he yelled at mike "GIVE ME A PICK!" so Mike was like "uhhh... alright" then did. Then he said the next song is off damnation. The retarded yelled "FUCK THIS" then left. After that the show went amazing for me. After the show the security guard came up to me and said they threw him out.

:erk: Mike should have kicked him instead! :Smug:

Watching the Devildorks try hard and try to be tough was funny. The vocalist is around 4'8 and has a midget voice when he talks saying "fuck" a lot. The guitarist would consintrate REALLY hard when playing more than three notes in a row or playing a "solo". He put so much effort into something most metal guitarist could do with ease.

Mikael is a hilarious guy, he should have humiliated that asshat even more in front of everyone. There are always those stupid, obese/annoying, bowl headed little mutts at shows causing trouble. But who can help it, they're too fat...it's impossible to rid them.

SAN DIEGO -l-

Ok, so I'm coming down from a high of music, deafness and pot, so sorry if this is so incoherint.

OK, so moonspell comes on first.....and they didn't have shit going for them. When the lead singer had the huge skull cane, It really fucked them for good. Tried to salvage the night by giving props to local band nevermore. Their amps were up way too loud, hurt my ears, couldn't understand shit. Some of their shit was decent.

Devildriver, my god. The energy they had...so awesome. They're a little extremer then what you'd find on Headbangers ball or Uranium. Pretty good, I was lovin' it. Some dude almost pulled the bouncer into the crowd, it was gnarly.

Opeth blew everyone the fuck away. Opeth rules you. Simple as that. The set list has been posted here so I'm not going to jargle through my memory again. Blackwater park and moor were amazing, as was the whole set. mikael said some funny shit. The whole lynard skinnard bit was classic.

Great show...

I'm actually listening to that setlist right now in order. I'm towards the end of Deliverance. What a diverse setlist, Blackwater Park with Demon of the Fall following will rule.

What a fucking weekend!

Just got back from night 2 of Opeth. I was at the Vancouver show last night and what a great time that was. Things were looking pretty grim in the couple of days before the show with the whole Lopez situation, but I kept thinking that there couldn't be a better place for a metal band to be playing a show when in need of a drummer than Vancouver - home of Gene "the human kick pedal" Hoglan! When I got to Vancouver and heard the rumours that Gene was actually gonna play with them I couldn't fucking believe it! :headbang: They played the Damnation stuff flawlessly, in fact it seemed better than on the Damnation tour itself. The crowd really made the best of what was a somewhat dissapointing situation. Everyone was going nuts despite the reduced set list, but when Gene came on stage the feeling in the building and the cheering was amazing. He pulled the songs off masterfully considering he had just learnt them and he really had almost all of the details in the cymbals, etc. intact! Got to say a few words to all of the guys including Gene and Per during the signing and got a picture with Mike and all of their autographs. Fuck, I couldn't wipe the smile off my face after that show. Brilliant!

Since Mike had announced that Lopez would be back for Seattle, my brother, some buddies and I got the idea to head down and catch that show too. During the signing in Vancouver Mike told me they would be playing the full set and I told him that I might have to jeopardize one of my assignments and check it out. "Hmmm, might be worth it" he said. What a fucking understatement!

I thought Moonspell were amazing and had some of the best sound I've ever heard from a live band. I wasn't familiar with them before these 2 shows aside from a music video or two that I'd seen but I'm definitely gonna have to get some of their stuff.

DevilDriver almost ruined the night for me but didn't quite succeed. After deciding that I couldn't justify fighting off the swarms of stubby/stocky-5-foot-high-shaved-head-white-wife-beater-red-baseball-cap guys that came out of the woodwork for DevilDriver I ended up losing my spot up front. They had a good crowd response and they sure got the tough guy look mastered while they're kicking out those monotonous chugging E string riffs. Just about ruined my night.

Fortunately, Opeth showed them how metal is done properly. Highlight of the night was The Moor without a doubt. Pure Fucking Brilliance from start to finish! I was getting some crazy goosebumps during the passing through the moor part! :worship: Blackwater Park and April Etherial were rad too, what a treat! I've gotta give a huge Kudos to all the people on the right hand side just behind the moshpit! Great fucking headbanging and windmilling all around! I was having trouble keeping up with one of the girls back there, she didn't let up headbanging at all! Truly an impressive display of metal spirit from everyone back there! I have no shortage of great things to say about both the shows but I've said a lot already so hopefully some other people that were there can fill in some of the other details! If anyone there remembers seeing me let me know. I've got fairly long black hair and I was wearing a katatonia Tonight's Decision shirt! Cheers!

I just want to say thank you to all the people that contributed to this thread that were at the gig. Because you went out of your way to post after an exhausting and exciting day really means a lot to those that weren't at the gig, especially in light of all that went on the last few days. You guys rule! I can't wait to see these four gigs! WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE! :headbang:
