How much loyalty to any one band?

i own fugazis full discography (excluding EPs that were later collected as albums and their 30 official CD-R live albums) plus their dvd which i guess makes like 9 releases which isnt that many but its the most i own by any one artist :I

I don't think I own the whole discography of any band that has more than four albums. Also, most (but not all) bands really start to deteriorate in quality later on in their careers. I once had six Entombed albums, but some of them suck. I tend more to buy my favorite albums from bands, as opposed to obtaining the whole discography of one band.

I agree, I will only buy albums that I enjoy, I don't care to have their entire Discography.

I'm not driven to own full discographies, but I've got nothing against it. You buy what is good.

That is, I'm not rushing out to buy any Blaze-era albums, you know...?

Of course.. but there are bands that'd I'd own an entire discography of because I like their entire discography. For example, Reverend Bizarre, Warning, or Slough Feg, etc.

I wouldn't buy albums I didn't like either. That'd be stupid.

I think Windir is the only entire discog I have, demos/dvds and all.

Agalloch comes close to being completed, just need FWOTO....but thats like 250 for a casette, no thanks.

Most of Opeth (dont have ghost reveries)...

Some others too

I guess I go for discogs.

Edit: Oh, I have complete Alice In Chains and Fear Factory discogs as well, as they influenced my childhood more than anything else and well, I believe I was 13 when I bought Digimortal to first complete my Fear Factory discog lol.

I don't really call myself a true fan of a band unless I have heard all or most of their stuff. I own several bands discographies including Opeth, In Flames, At The Gates, Emperor, Dark Tranquillity, Amon Amarth, Darkthrone, Agalloch, Bloodbath... I like to know that I have heard everything from a band, otherwise I feel like I am missing a part of the bands timeline or something. Of course I do regret buying some albums, from bands that I don't like, or don't like anymore...

I wouldn't buy a discography just to have it, that would be a waste of money. I just buy the stuff I enjoy and I ended up owning all of BLS's albums, not on purpose, it just ended up that way.

if a band has 10 good albums, i'll buy all 10

if a band has 10 albums and 5 are good, i'll buy those 5

it doesn't matter how much you like a band itself, buying albums you don't like is quite stupid. just flush the money down the toilet instead. or better yet, send it to me :p

I only own full discographies of 2 bands, Opeth and Radiohead

(technically I own more "full discographies", bands that only have 1 or 2 albums, but I'm only thinking about bands that actually have quite a few)

I'm sorry. That is a sad sad story.

I love it when I can find somebody to pwn. I'm done messing with you, bro, I don't feel mean enough to keep it up.

Pentagram is definitely a band whose entire discography everyone should work to own...you know, excluding the abundance of singles and demos they put out throughout the 70s, which would be absolutely insane. I should get on that myself, I only have five.

I only own First Daze Here, which bizarrely, is infinitely better than First Daze Here Too. I just have no fucking idea where to obtain copies of ANY of their albums. I'm really keen on getting the first few, as it's the later tracks on the FDH comp I like the most.

I buy albums that I enjoy. If I enjoy all of a band's albums, I wind up buying all of them. Of course, I normally try to spread out my purchases, but I've managed to obtain a couple, such as Summoning and Reverend Bizarre.

You bought the whole RB back catalogue ? Wow! :Smug:

I'm a completist, to be honest - if I like a band, chances are I'll buy their entire discography. That works worst when a band has a decreasing level of quality - because I find it a wrench not to buy their stuff - which was a real problem with Paradise Lost, Slayer and Megadeth...

You bought all of Slayer's stuff? :erk:
