How Much You Bench?

Been dealing with shoulder issues myself. I think I may have to have my left shoulder scoped at some point. I blame doing too many low rep/high weight sets. I think I'm going to work more in the 8 rep range moving forward (than the 5 rep range).

Yeah, its kind of weird. You do low rep sets, and you strain your joints from the sheer amount of weight, unless your a pussy and press nothing.

Then, if you go high rep range (12+), you can also screw stuff up by repetive motion.

8-10 rep range is the best bet if you wanna stay healthy.

Not to mention my crazy tendonitis I have in my left arm. I dont even remember the last time I have done curls cuz its so insane. I am goign through A.R.T. therapy for it along with my fucked up disc cuz of work, where I cant do deads anymore besides racked deads.

I'm doing a program now, that uses "The Rule of 25". You do sets of 5x5, 3x8 or 2x12. So, I'm doing flat BB bench at 5x5. Incline DB press, 3x8. Decline BB press, 3x8. Incline Flies, 2x12.

I'm also doing a ton of reps, with a very light weight, and wait about three minutes to give my blood time to circulate.

What is this going to accomplish?!? And no I'm not being facetious, seriously what is it going to accomplish? I stick to the 6-8 rep range myself. My gains have been coming on steadily since I started my Gerard Butler regimen.

The other day my negar co-worker approached me, grabbed me by the arm, and started fondling me in a very uncomfortable manner.

Negar: Damn bro, have yo been workin out?
Me to myself: "I hope he doesn't think my arm is a vine and begins to ascend me".

Needless to say, I'll be wearing sweaters from this day forward. :erk:

I think you missed what I was trying to say. I do a ton of reps, with a very light weight, as a warm up set. So for bench, I might throw a pair of 25s on the bar and do 18 - 24 reps, just to loosen up. I use to start with a heavier warm up weight and do 10 -12 reps. After my warm up set and a 2 - 3 minute rest, I move on to my 5x5s.

That's semi a lot of volume bro. Are you counting warm ups as a set? Plus, a whole 3 minutes between each set?! Yikes.

Also, I would ditch them declines...but thats just me.
 
Most I ever benched was 405 for 6 reps @ 205-210lbs back 5 years ago. Ill get there again someday. I just went back 6 weeks ago and am already making huge progress. Gotta love muscle memory.
 
lmao when I played football, the most I benched was 185 once, and I got a little bump from The Great Deceiver.
 
I had my first cheat meal today in 2 weeks and the one before that was 4.5 weeks. I figured wtf since Im gonna be indulging in a few beers tonight. Right? :)

I had my first cheat meal on Thursday in about 5weeks. (Double cheeseburger and onion rings that left my heart reeling) Oh well must stay determined, I'm sick of looking down at a beer flap. If I look down, I want to see a Huge E. Rection, not remnants of meals long since digested. FTW!!!!
