How old were you when you started smoking ?.

Why are you being so fucking paranoid?

Seriously, I understand your concern of getting some disease, but really, in day to day situations where you're likely to be around a smoker for less than a minute* (unless you live with one or hang around a friend/family member who does it often) you really shouldn't be complaining like this.

*I didn't even see, let alone walked near, one smoker today, and in fact, haven't for the last 3 or so that I remember.
Can we not argue about the principle of the thing? Or are we constrained to our own lucky circumstances to not have been near a smoker today. I in fact was near a smoker briefly while walking back from class today. I can't say I was harmed, but it was gross and unpleasant, and if I was forced to endure this more often, it certainly would be harmful.

It's hard to when there are so many variables, many of which, as you pointed out, are different from place to place. I can't imagine though, that in the most populous state of the US, there'd be less smokers than any other place.

You said that you couldn't say you were harmed by that "encounter" but that it was just unpleasant. Is an argument with the point of personal comfort, rather than personal health, really worth anything? I mean, some amusement park rides, or scary movies, are uncomfortable and unpleasant...

blah blah no future blah fuck regrets who cares blah. maybe i'll stop smoking tho blah blah cuz girls blah blah maybe blah no future. i respect v5 and cc cuz they're my fuckin bros. blah blah horrible point that's been refuted countless times but i'll present it anyway blah blah. i'm going to end this blah blah with some weird random "artsy" sounding thing blah blah k.

:erk:

Show me where I'm being paranoid based on me saying that second hand smoke is harmful. It IS harmful. That's not being paranoid. I didn't say I was concerned of getting a disease, nor did I mention day to day situations, or really even mention any kind of practical scenario whatsoever. All I said was "smoke is harmful," which is like saying "food is edible."

Cool, a smoking propaganda website. :kickass: Notice those things say "nicotine" and not "cigarettes." There's a lot more to a cigarette than nicotine.

I has a website too: http://www.quit.org.au/quit/fandi/fandi/c03s14.htm

"However if some degree of protection from endometrial cancer is afforded by cigarette smoking, it fades to insignificance when compared to the numbers of lives lost through smoking. Some 30 times as many lives are lost due to smoking than saved through lowered incidence of endometrial cancer."

"'Although the association is compatible with a protective effect of smoking for familial Alzheimer's disease, it has no relevance for prevention of Alzheimer's disease because of the adverse health effects of smoking.'"

...obviously.

If I remember correctly nicotine is actually one of the least harmful substances present in modern cigarettes.
