How old were you when you started smoking ?.

You're subjecting yourself to it by being around them. It's a two-way street ya see.

But me being around them is not harming them. The prerogative to move, therefore, is on the one causing the problem, not the one neutral to the problem.

In most places, smoking in public is still within the realm of legality, therefore they have every right to be standing wherever they're standing and smoke, which means the only thing you can do to not be "harmed" (lol) is to move away from them, because chances aren't very high that they'll stop smoking or move just because you ask them to.

My original point with that post anyway isn't about fixing problems, it's that it's not just them subjecting you to "harm" (lol) because they're near you, but also that you're subjecting yourself by continuing to stand around them.

"Harmful" is not an exaggeration of second hand smoke. If you disagree, you're flat out wrong. :)

Harmful =/= OMG CANCER

Here's the solution:
Box around smoker
Gas mask attached to box to take the bad smoke and make it good :)

They all light up like that after I'm done with them:heh:

Alright, go do what I told you before; stand next to one smoker for one minute, then come back and tell me where it hurts. In fact, you may also tell me how many seconds have just been subtracted from your life.

Why are you being so fucking obtuse?

Why are you being so fucking paranoid?

Seriously, I understand your concern of getting some disease, but really, in day to day situations where you're likely to be around a smoker for less than a minute* (unless you live with one or hang around a friend/family member who does it often) you really shouldn't be complaining like this.

*I didn't even see, let alone walked near, one smoker today, and in fact, haven't for the last 3 or so that I remember.

I'd be worried more about the all around air quality of the city you live in than if someone was smoking within 10 feet of you.

Poor people who live in LA :(

erk at LA. I want to go to Alaska, just to experience how clean the air is.

I'm a person who lives one day at a time and do not believe in a future so something like cancer does not scare me because the chances are you will not get cancer until old and who wants to be old anyways. I guess the only reason I am trying to stop is because it's a turn off for a girl I know and really like and because that she actually cares about me or something or that if I stop and make some changes maybe something more can happen and because she's on my ass about it. I do not go near people who are not smoking and light up a cig around them and someone who does not smoke does not have to go up and stand next to a smoker. If someone wants to slowly kill themselves and everyday off their live is the sameday struggling why should you prevent that when it's not your life. I do not think some people really understand that for some people there is nothing.
