I bought a new car (the "I wanna be like Gugs" thread)...

If I'm not mistaken, the Suzuki Swift had a 2-cycle engine. Just kidding, but it was a 3-cylinder engine. Somehow that makes it worse, what a shitbox!

I hate everything about automatic transmissions, but really do enjoy driving my wife's Mazda3. Mazda "gets" fun driving when it comes to practical cars.

Still really happy with my VW Jetta. Mine was 26k but I think standard model is 20k so you should be able to find a 1-2 year old used for less than 15k

bunch of fucking squares up in here

I can't think of anything un-square that Jerry could get in that price range. You can get an early 2000s Boxster for that coin but the repairs would be killer. Jerry appreciates reliability.

Aren't VWs notorious for being unreliable? I read comments about it all the time on TTAC....from actual owners, no less.

A Challenger or Mustang GT are still laughably* expensive even ones 5-6 years old.

*i literally laughed aloud when researching 4.6 liter GTs recently

My buddy has a Mustang that he dropped a fortune on. Twas in the shop literally every other week, and is now sitting in his drive way. Last time I saw him, he was driving an early 2000s Corolla.

I want a car that looks like a pump, but feels like a sneaker.

Do not buy a new or used Volkswagen. Got it brand new, 2013. CD player and wiper motors have already failed. Brakes feel super weak after 40k, rotors and pads look totally fine, no fluid leak... it's pretty strange. That shit just shouldn't happen.

I am trading in my Volkswagen for a new Volkswagen. Considering a TDI, but I just cut my commute in half so it may not be worth the extra gold coins. New Jetta (gasoline) comes standard with the 1.8 turbo... Might be a cool option but in all honesty I will probably end up with the 2.5 Sportwagon. Getting looped into the lease system sucks but at least you can score a new car every 2-3 years.

i am sorry, i didn't think i would need to clarify that my reason for posting those two contradicting statements was to make a joke.

Further explanation >>> (My jetta has had numerous failures within its first two years of existence, yet I am getting another one because it is easy and more practical than buying my current lease)

Good choice. If I can figure out a way to get out of my XC90 Im replacing it with an Accord manual
