I bought a new car (the "I wanna be like Gugs" thread)...

Zod ... how is the car doing? any issues with it?
lookign to possibly trade in the MINI soon as my warranty will be up ... weighing my options with different brands.

did you lease it?
I did lease it. It's a two year lease. So far, I love it. Comfortable. A ton of fun to drive. Fast as shit. The only drawback I've discovered is when I was driving it this past Wednesday, in all that ice. It sucked. I sent Mark a text and said, "Our car sucks ass in snow!" He texted me back, "You're reading my mind." I'm not sure if it's typical of how it will perform in snow, as Wednesday was more ice than snow.

Other than that, I love the car and will seriously consider leasing another Speed6 a year from April. Regardless, I'm very impressed with Mazda and they will always be a brand I consider.

Yes, my friend has a Mazda 6, and it is a slippery bitch in the winters of Utah. I actually hate riding with him in winter as its not a fun ride.

So we have recently begun carpooling in my other friends Volvo S70... which handles the weather with mastery only the Swedish can achieve.

cool ... since this is a Mazdaspeed edition don't you have high performance summer tires on it? that might explain the problems in snow?

fun part in that thread is that in the end I bought no car at all last year. I'll probably buy my father's car (2003 honda accord) this summer or something. He's making enough money to afford a new car.

Honestly, I wasn't aware that stock tires were considered seasonal. Assuming that's correct, I think I'll just live with it. This winter is nearly over, and I only have it for one more year. Unless they predict a nasty winter next year, I think I'll try to avoid ponying up for a set of winter tires.

Zod

yeah, a lot of high performance cars come with summer tires only ... basically useless in snow and ice.
your dealer is actually obligated to tell you about this at delivery time.

The Cooper S has this as a free option, you can either pick it up will All Seasons or Summer tires (better grip)

Some others, like the G35 Coupe, Corvette, etc are summer only.

I almost traded in my WRX for a new Tacoma a few weeks ago.

But then I remembered that I have an average (or above) sized weenus and decided not to.

I hate the fact that Japanese auto manufacturers, once known for creating small, dependable pick'em'up trucks now are near the kings of the road when it comes to ungainly pieces of giant american shits that waste more gas than a night at Albertos.

haha reminds me of just yesterday, some douchebag marine type ass-poling faggot in a lifted Chevy truck cut me off so I layed on the horn for him, he leaned out his window, yelled "WHAT?! WHAT?!" and then sped off like a giant gaping fucking pussy because one look into my deadeyes made him weep for his mustachio'd mamma. MAN I love the marines. Where is tully anyhow? Dead yet?

When my wife picked up her Cooper S, the dealer said nothing about the tires, one way or the other.

Zod

did she buy it off the lot? or ordered it?
if you custom build it online you get this choice at no charge.

I believe the dealer specked ones come with All Seasons standard

they are not chains ... there are All Season tires that work "ok" in all weather.
then there are Summer High Performance tires ... that have great grip in dry or wet conditions but due to the thread layout or rubber compound work like shit in winter below a certain temperature or snow/ice.

At $42,900, you can afford it.

AND fit in it ... would love to have one
Now that's a different story.

Zod

He could drive with the top off at all times.
You can pick one of these up used with under 10,000 miles on them for around $30,000 in Atlanta.

great car ... one of the guys from our MINI club traded in his MC for one ...
practical? no ...
great as a second car for zooming around and track days ... and picking up loose chicks in Soho.
