I bought a new car (the "I wanna be like Gugs" thread)...

LOL "second car"
A used Lotus costs the about the same as the TWO cars that I currently own COMBINED
My goal is to someday have a GT3 although by the time I can afford even one payment, cars as we know them, will have long disappeared.

the thing with super cars is that people that can afford them don't buy them outright ... they finance them for a short time for a few grand a month ... then when its time to sell them they pretty much get their money back ...
those cars don't lose much value if at all.
its a winning situation ... you just have to have the few grand a month laying around for the initial payments :loco: ... oh yeah, and get approved for a loan

That seems to be the case. One physician I used to work for had tons of money because he owned the company. I recently asked him what happened to the 7 series BMW he used to own, and he said, "oh, I just leased that for awhile."
My wife sells a product to the richest people in town and she said they are all like that. Kinda wierd. They'll fret and stammer over the simplest little thing and try to negotiate everything. They're all Jews btw

my new drool ...Volvo .. yes, Volvo C30 .. available all over the world ... coming to America in a few months ... about $26K as pictured

Yeah, I saw that on their website the other day (do not ask why I was on Volvo's website, please). BMW's smaller offering is due to hit our shores in a couple years as well.

I saw my first real live Ford Mustang GT500 today. It's awesome.

its a 5 cyclinder, 220hp Turbo, Dynaudio HiFi System (killer audiophile juice)
decent handling I hear

two thing are minuses ... the dealer network in NY is shit and Volvo's resale value as well

Volvos always seem to have awesome audio systems. I have a '91 with its original speakers and they crank it out crystal clear!

hmm, not bad. Not bad at all. Although I'm a firm believer in NA Sixes over Turbo Fours or Fives. Bigger engines have more torque and more user-friendly HP curves. Engineers fit cars with turbo 4s for two reasons: 2) size of the vehicle and/or 2) a bigger engine would cause it to outsell a more expensive model. For example: Cayman vs 911. The Cayman is the better sportscar overall so they gave it a depowered 6 so as not to compete with the 911. This happened to them in the late 80s when the 924S turned out to be faster than the much more expensive 944.

haha, yeah I keep hearing how the Cayman is actually better all around than the 911 ... no wonder Porsche has downplayed the marketing of it since its release.

hey, i bought a new car too. only because i rolled my car over last weekend going 70 mph on the freeway and crawled out of the wreck without a scratch. You cant hurt steel bitches.

moved all day, deciced to have a few beers afterwards at a friends house, and drive home @ 3AM ...ended up pulling some evil kinevil type shit out there. Went off road, hit a fence, swerved back and went airborn ended up landeing on my windshield/roof and sliding on down the freeway going 70mph. I crawl out and the cop just goes "How the fuck did you just do that?!" I say ..."uuuh...I dunno, I fell asleep" They all thought they were gonna find some bloody, messy, victim, cremated in the trashed car. Just filled up the tank that night too and their was a huge hole torn throughout the bottom of the car too including the tank, and I was lucky that the car didbnt explode on me. I actually crawled back into the fucking thing when i noticed my phone fell out of my pocket. lol fuckin A

The last 2 weeks of my life have been nothing but bludgeoning. Cant hold this fucker down though.

man you really are fucking lucky ... glad you are ok.

afraid to ask what went down these last 2 weeks

I've always wondered about this. As I noted when I started this thread, I drive a Mazda Speed6. It pulls 274 HP and does 0-60 in 6.22. The RX8 has 232 HP and does 0-60 in 6.4. All of this is fine and good, until you realize that the Speed6 is about $5,000 less. It seems crazy to me, to build you more expensive sports car, to be slower than your sedan.

Zod

Seems Nissan also makes some very powerful sedans. Is the Maxima engine the same as the Z? I don't know enough about them.

Re the Mazda situation: they probably decided they could get away with it because the two cars attract entirely different crowds. They're both very fast in a straight line but the less-powerful RX8 would beat the Speed6 on a track. A Corvette, however, would put them both to shame

my very good friend just called that he picked up a Jetta GLI Fahrenheit edition ... damn jelaous of that DSG tranny

on a related note ... I might be joining the Gugs and Zod party very soon ... if all goes well.
