I bought a new car (the "I wanna be like Gugs" thread)...

i want to honestly ... but the mpg's are a disaster.

this is what I would most likely get if I go big

2009-Ford-Flex-Front-Angle-1280x960.jpg

- looks polarizing
- drives like a car
- 3rd row seating
- 2nd row sliding seats

if I ever get a minivan please come and shoot me ... really.

That's exactly what the wife said we should get

I was actually thinking Tahoe but they're pretty fucking expensive....not that a Flex isn't

it is expensive and even 2-3 year old ones are ...
Ford is discoing it though from what I hear.

great all around ... did my researh on it

Tahoe kicks ass as well ... love the front row bench on those ... super comfy and couch like.

but fuck me ... I run for 3 days on $10 of gas with the MINI ... those cars would make me weep at the pump.

I looked at my credit card statement today and we've apparently spent almost $4000 on gas in the past 12 months.

Jack White drives a Flex, btw

I wonder if you can fit three across in the new Outback. Auto websites should post that kind of info: number of safety seats you can fit in one row. Because maybe there's some of us left in America who don't want or need the biggest fucking vehicle on the planet just so we can drive to elementary school and hockey practice.
I miss the days of riding around in a Chevy Malibu wagon....then again we didn't have safety seats back then hahahaha and if there were too many of us, someone would just sit in the hatch. It was a fucking greenhouse back there.

doubt it ... my pops in law has the new Forester and that doesn't have it either.

are there ANY cars with 3 across?

I doubt it. I can't imagine how wide a modern car would have to be to accommodate three huge safety seats. Maybe a 7 series could do it but....hmm....slightly out of my price range :loco:

Children stay in safety seats for an unbelievable length of time by body weight and height. My son's goes up to - I think - 100 pounds.

...thing is, we *all* should be in safety seats in our vehicle. It's just that no adult would tolerate it for one second. But for kiddies, the seat belts are what's actually the dangerous part....will cut your head right off if you're not boosted up high enough.

When I was a kid though....we just didn't use seat belts
