I bought a new car (the "I wanna be like Gugs" thread)...

The challenge is finding something that can fit three kid seats AND gets good gas mileage. Minivans aren't bad at 27 mpg or whatever...shit, that's better than my Outback...but surely there are some vehicles out there that aren't just an appliance. Europeans don't drive minivans. What the fuck do y'all drive when ya gots three or more kids?

volvo v70, always

no kids? volvo v70.

five kids? volvo v70.

holy schnikies. and it's still not enough to make a real dent in the population decline of your country.

Well yeah, two penii of proud aryan warriors fighting for the survival of our race can't stop the holocaust. As always, except for when it comes to old band releasing comeback albums, you're right.

Cool. How much them things cost?
I think I told the story about how I had to get my check engine light code read (to the tune of $90) and the problem turned out to be a $0.25 fuse. Woot!

didn't you check out the new S60 and deem it inadequate?
even a European says its a mid-size (I would think that's a land yacht in Europe though)

and the price blows ... that should me more like 10-12K

yeah, the new one has seats that are too contoured. It's a really nice car though. Three across should be possible in just about any mid-size car (Diono safety seats are only 17 inches across) but, for whatever reason, designers feel the need to make it a major pain in the ass with all their bolsters and whatnot.

People on carseat.org (yes, it's real) talk of "puzzling" three seats in cars as small as a Corolla but fuck that. My joints hurt just thinking about it.

I admire those types though. On the other hand, there's the morons who start threads wondering if two kids will fit in their mid-size SUV

Btw, not that anyone cares but I think we will get an XC70 with the built-in boosters....if we can swing it financially. I'm really trying to avoid joining the third-row club

so wait ... if you CAN physically fit 3 car seats in ANY car's backseat and just use seatbelts for all instead of the car seat "clips" or whatever the fuck they are on the left and right seat ... you are OK with the cops?

I thought all 3 seats would have to have those "clips"

dude XC70 ... the HOT!

how about the Subaru Outback as a cheaper alternative?

swedes are not like sissy continental europeans with their li'l dainty opel corsas and renault twingos and fuck knows

we like good sturdy big cars so we can haul rocks, dead moose and our enormous penises across the grim, barren terrain

what we don't like is gratuitious size for size's sake, i.e. putting a 5400 hp engine in some shits and then barely being able to move it anyway because of the 36" solid gold rims, like every ridiculous clownmobile your native so called automotive industry makes

i don't care who you are or what you're going to do with it. hey buddy. buying a new car? here's a volvo v70. what colour would you like? i don't care, you're getting wine red.

That's what people mean by "puzzling"...like they have to be certain brands of seats and they have to be in a certain order like rear-facing in the center, front-facing in the outboard seats.

Anwyway...yeah, you're fine as long as your seats are secure.

Yeah, the XC70 is beautiful. I'm still considering the Outback, it just doesnt have the booster seats. Those things eliminate two safety seats right off the bat. I'd only need one for the new baby in the middle seat.
The Sube is SIGNIFICANTLY cheaper as in $10000+ and you can get one with a manual

not that i have kids or give a fuck at all, but i would second the recommendation for a v70. the xc70 is not the most notoriously reliable vehicle ever made. im sure a new one is awesome, but i hear people bitch and moan about these cars constantly.
