I bought a new car (the "I wanna be like Gugs" thread)...

a subaru wagon would be fuckin great, but they are way out of my price range. my girlfriend has a big suzuki SUV now so at least we have one car for toting shit around. mine basically just has to get me to work.

buy a citroen sm or a renault 15 or something else ancient, arcane, french and completely impractical

i want that thing that you had to drive through the slovakian mountains or wherever you were. probably not road legal in the USA!

oh this? it's actually still a viable car i would say as long as you intend to drive only in the city. it hates fuel so it doesn't drink a lot of it and when it breaks down you can fix it with bubble gum, twine and pure anger because it's basically a 30 hp engine with kind of a box around it and maybe steering.

i don't know if it was sold in america at all but it was IMMENSELY popular at the time in europe, being one of the first viable compact cars (together with things like the volkswagen typ 1, mini and citroen 2cv)

also i didn't "have" to drive it, i chose renting it over a modern car (which there were plenty of) because i have an overt death wish

You mean the Dodge Durango Heat?! Hardly. In fact, it has no direct competitor except it's own V-8 variant.
i can't tell the scale from the picture, is this obnoxiously big or what because that's the only thing i can think of which would make it not identical to every other model of car produced today

hmm ... isn't a few year old Outback or Forester about the same $ as an 2009 Civic? ... or is the Civic that much cheaper?

Subarus tend to be on the expensive side of the used car market for whatever reason (rarity?)

It's a full-size wagon with a 23-mpg 300-hp V6 and lowered suspension. There is literally nothing else like it here in Amerika.

oh i don't care about the engine i was just commenting on how the 100% generic, forgettable design which, again, makes it completely indistinguishable from every other generic, forgettable car

looks like a ssangyong

 how many variations can there be of a four-wheeled appliance used for transporting human beings?

all i know is back in the 70s and 80s you could tell which brand a car was by looking at the design

Indeed. But I doubt if even Citroen looks different nowadays. There's just not much left to do when you factor in all the (necessary) regulations. I mean, I don't know about anyone else, but I like airbags

Do you need a reliable and sexy vehicle to get you to the Renaissance Fair?
