I bought a new car (the "I wanna be like Gugs" thread)...

interesting observation ... probably why I really dig this as the A7 is my fave car on the road right now.

this very well could be my next car IF they make some light colored interior options.

narrower tires = more fun ... amen. been preaching this forever :kickass:

well yeah this is extreme but try running a 175 tire on your car like I do and fun awaits. you car will become super tossable and oddly at the same time once you get used to it very predictable.

fucking great... engine light came on in the saab today. 62,000 miles and it just had a major service done at like 59,000. the thing is running perfectly so i'm really hoping its just some electrical bullshit. apparently a few people have had problems with the gas caps or wet air filters. i really cant afford to take the car in to the dealership and have them charge me like $400 just to look at it. any advice? you guys think its alright to drive it for a few days and see if the light goes off?

obviously if it sounds/feels weird i'm going to take it in but i just can't shell out the money to have those faggots tell me it's nothing.

going to walmart to find a proper OBDII scanner... going to figure this shit out myself. looked under the steering wheel and immediately found the port. shouldn't be too hard

code readers are fucking sweet... found my problem, and it's a fucked up purge valve in the emissions system. my girlfriend's dad said that they regularly break around 50k, and i've read on a few saab forums that he repair is commonly needed at 60k (I have 63k, so it makes sense).

somehow i was still able to find the part, and also found a detailed how-to guide. http://www.saabcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=153485

they talk about how the genuine saab valve is about $150, but GM makes the same piece for a buick and it's only about $20. I went with the genuine valve... just to be sure. one of the guys in that thread had all sorts of electrical issues after using the cheaper one.

i have never even changed my own oil before, but i have successfully installed a brand new headlight assembly in a volvo 940 (not as easy as it sounds). so can MFJ succeed in this repair and avoid a $500 trip to the dealership? stay tuned to find out...

just realized today that I haven't changed my oil in like 15k miles

lucky its synthetic and still looks reasonably transparent.

I also topped it off the other day with conventional motor oil ... :loco:

did I also mention my average speed according to my car comp is like 13.4 mph ...

massive fail all around ... luckily I am still under warranty.

yeah topped it off by accident some weeks ago with a 1/2qt. that was in my car (left over from the Mazda) ... these freaking bottles of oil all look the same.
and that's no joke on the average mph ... that's my typical average.
