The discussion in the other thread inspired this. Since this is a common dream among metal fans, I figured it would be a good way to share ideas.

Go!

my local metal store just closed. its quite sad really. they did alot of good, promoting shows and stuff.

i think the way to do it, is to combine it with a show venue. that way you can still have an income without having to sell non metal stuff. the pit store was also a head shop. they still ended up folding though.

My dream store would be a large Vintage Vinyl - esque building. I would have a huge selection of rock and metal: metalcore (and the other shitty popular -core genres), probably some emo, classic/prog rock, and all types of metal of course. Everything would be correctly categorized into the appropriate sections by genre. There would be tons of LP's and used stuff as well. I'd probably have a merch section, selling shirts, posters, corpse paint, etc, and I'd probably sell record players too

I've thought about that as well. I'd have a large restaruant/bar there as well, with a balcony section where you could sit and eat and have a good view.

My dream store would be small store packed with every type of metal and some classic rock (maybe even some punk) aswell as band merchandise.

Let me add to my other reply. I would sell metal, classic rock, progressive, punk, jazz, classical, and some popular music also. I would sell shirts also, both band shirts and other ones. I would have one of those Pepsi coolers that sold all kinds of soda. I would sell records also. I would try to have every genre of metal. There would be a place where people can sample the music they want to buy.

I like GR's store idea. I would sell shirts and posters as well, though. I would also make it where you could request shirts and CD's that we order in if we don't have what you're looking for. There's a store in the mall here like that, but they only sell apparel. They have a lot of obscure shirts, though.

I would also have a part that sold other things like computers, video games, comics, movies, books, etc.

Mine would have studio space in the back so you could rehearse or record songs as well as the typical record store stuff. I would charge for the hour, but it would be cheap.

I would also allow you to sample an entire album by having copies in the back that have been opened. That way you don't get the wrong impression by only hearing 30 seconds of each track

my real dream shop is a practice studio with gear included. but that isnt a metal store.
