IN FLAMES new album being released by the end of 2016

Yo understand what you mean with doing it right you should explain whatsw doing it wrong.

Did they do it wrong with battles?

For people that were expecting a radiofriendly album with plain melodies and oriented to choruses with a good production they probably did it right.

Also for new listeners.

The EP. For peopple like cicko is almost the epitome of perfection rising what once were flaw songs to a new level of holiness.

So what's doing it right?

I'm talking more about Siren Charms when they tried to heavily integrate electronics into their music. Some of it sounded nice, but the part that sounded like In Flames was very dialed back and washed out. The execution was pretty poor, and a lot of the songs could of been structured and composed better in terms of the guitar work. A lot of the choruses were pretty bad as well.

A bit early for a new one isn't it? Give us at least another year to forget Battles first. Actually, I've already forgotten most of the songs on it, so never mind.

Remember the release was heavily delayed though. They already mixed and mastered it in January 2016 but release was pushed back to September due to Anders burnout or whatever it was. They don't have any tours lined up until some summer festivals so maybe they're planning to record something this year. If Björn just started writings riffs I doubt they're gonna record anything before summer/autumn. He could have been writing for a while though, they haven't toured for a couple months already. Would be cool with an album later this year. There's some really good albums coming this year already. Don't know what to expect next though, hopefully it's better than Battles.

There are many bands that have never evolved and still do interesting songs. There are bands that have evolved and are boring as fuck. IF comes to mind.

New ATG track is okay-ish, mainriff sounds very Blinded By Fear indeed. I still listen to At War With Reality a bit, but ATG is quite monotone for me after a while, he always keeps the same pitched vocals.

Totally agree. Have been waiting in anticipation for this and that first song is a let down. I saw mostly positive comments saying things like “classic ATG!” but the song is far too derivative to get excited about. I figured after Bjorler left they would have re-kindled a fire (like with Dark Tranquility Atoma , In Flames SOAPF) but I did not hear that in this video

Where did the guitar solo go, for instance? And I know exactly the defense “but no one says we have to have a solo! It’s just a convention and we break convention!”. This is where someone like Nordstrom would step in and say “just play a damn solo and kick everyone’s ass”. Without a solo there the song is missing something. Most obvious thought is Bjorler is missing and that led to a subpar release.

Still hopeful they just made a bad selection of the single. I love AWWR — it grew on me over time. Slaughter is raw and amazing but AWWR is an artistic masterpiece. I’m hoping ATG doesn’t devolve like The Haunted or one of the other lukewarm bands in their circle.

Insomnium has greats songs like Down with the sun, While we sleep, Weather the storm. You guys should check it.

I find them very boring. If I need my fix for melancholic sounding melodeath I'd go for Be'Lakor any day. I've never gotten into Insomnium at all, vocals are a bit annoying for me too. They do have some nice riffs though. But I prefer Wolfheart over them and I don't really listen to them either.
