hey all,
since there are quite a few Maiden fans on this board some of us thought it might be time for another collaboration.
now, there are a couple of things we should decide on:
1. who wants to contribute and play which instrument
I personally haven't been involved in the previous collaborations but would like to contribute by playing bass. Steve is my idol and I can get pretty close to his tone.
2. the song(s)
I think everybody should be allowed to name the song he wants to cover. then whichever song gets the most consensus and can most faithfully be reproduced is the one we'll cover.
the song doesn't have be one of the classic Maiden tunes and may very well be a song from the Di'Anno or Bailey era. it might even be easier for the singer if that's the case.
3. the sound
while I know it's unlikely we'll be able to make it sound like on their records, I'm strongly in favor of trying to capture the original character, vibe and sound of the particular song as good as we can.
I'd love for the guitarists to be able to faithfully reproduce the solos.
overall it doesn't have to be extremely polished and clean because that's not that maiden's recordings are like and about.
I assume the drums will have to be programmed I'm sure wel'll figure something out to make it work.
guitars and bass should sound pretty close to the original if possible.
vocals, we'll most importantly props to the person singing.
4. who'll mix it
here I think everybody who wants to mix it should be allowed to give it a go and in the end we'll vote for the best mix.
ok, now I'll let you chime in and name your song of choice. Can't wait to tackle this project.
