Is it just me or does the new Chimaira just sound like...

Sounds more like Chimaira than the other song though still doesn't do anything for me unlike previous material. Chorus lyrics make me chuckle a bit.

MEEEEEEEEEEEEEH.

Their best songs (I hatez everyone and powertrip) we're written with two riffs, they should go back to that. This is lullaby material.

Man, I like this band. I liked the 2nd youtube song posted.

Sounds good to me, I don't get what everyone is putting down.

Also, while Zeuss may have mixed it, Ben Schigel produced - which is the same guy that did the one album of theirs everyone seems to like (TIOR).

You guys are a tough crowd!

BTW, I reallu like Zeuss's work, but I haven't heard his most recent stuff...Besides this Chimaira, the most recent before that was the last Hatebreed, which I was disappointed in.

His Full Blown Chaos Wake the Demons mix still kills me when I listen.

EDIT

I will say that a band like Chimaira is best served throwing down a nice standard 3-4 minute song, as the repetitive nature can be a nice blast in a nice tidy song structure, spreading it out among 4 and half minutes or more spreads the effectiveness pretty thin.

That verse riff is like a backwards, less-good version of slaughtered by Pantera.

Yeah.. Me and Liam Thompson(same username on here) were saying the whole songs reminds us of a really slow and shit version of Slaughtered.

personally, i think its really bad.. way too slow. that slow it doesn't really have any groove to it :( which isn't chimaira at all, lol.

I kinda agree (more on the slow/bad thing than the Slaughtered thing though).

I've recorded with Ben (and Tony) and they are wicked legit, but I must agree with everyone else, this album is lackluster at best - for whatever reason.

It sounds like they were trying way too hard... I could imagine this around 30 bpm faster as well though :goggly:

Cliche lyrics, less than diesel riffs.

I never liked them, I bought Ressurection because I heard it was an Andy work (which I liked, but didn't love).

:erk: Maybe the next few songs will be better. Vocals sound too loud too.
