Is mainstream music getting worse?

I strongly dislike mainstream music, and yes it is getting worse it seems. I remember growing up when rock was more or less mainstream in early to mid 90's, but then came the backstreet boys, nsync etc.

WTF? Backstreet boys and Nsync are still around. They just disgused themselves with eye liner and sloppy guitar work.

Theres absolutely nothing wrong with mainstream music, people just listen to it for different reasons. Some people like a catchy tune they can dance to, and others find it inconceivable that I listen to lots of music I can't understand the lyrics to. It's all just taste and even though a lot of talentless musicians are getting a free ride while lots of talented ones struggle to get noticed, there are loads of people that enjoy their music. And thats what music is all about.

They ran out of ideas long ago, some of the people in the mainstream have talent such as Beyonce, but whoever writes the songs isn't that great, in rap they suck ass, Run-D.M.C. in my opinion is one of the greatest rap groups. Rap today is all about image
