Is metal crap now??

I don't think so, the year 2003 has allready brought us some excellent releases... by example Type O Negative's 'Life Is Killing Me', Moonspell's 'The Antidote' etc... etc... Is Opeth's 'Deliverance' released in 2003 or was it still 2002? Whatever, you're just suffering of the 'it used to better when I was younger' -disease... However I know it's difficult to leave the past behind... blablablabla... I guess this was too ontopic?

im not that old right, but im not really excited about whats been going on in the metal scene in general since max left sepultura. the only band i keep following is sentenced but dont ask me why, i cant explain really. i remember being bathered in metal when i was a kid and when i was in my early teens being well excited about '...and justice for all', 'somewhere in time', 'countdown to extinction', 'chaos ad' and that. back then there was no room in the scene for stratovarius. me and me mates were steak knives in the middle school, the minority like, not the cool hip people. now being a metalhead is either about buying expensive crap clothes to rebel against your parents who actually paid for your clothes, and/or denying the total lack of originality in the scene currently and calling dan swano a genius.

aye i havent hear a single Sepultura disc with that Derek geezer on it. it's just not the same.
and i dont wanna hear it. i guess it would destroy every bit of fun and that which i 'had with' the band when i grew up. and Soulfly is nothing more than rhythmic distortion on samba.
which is fair enuff, but not what i'd listen to.

tho i do like the cross-overs that are taking place now. some integrate other influences badly (piling it on top of 'standard' metal), tho there are quite a few touching the very core of it, even when it's such a different style/type of music being very hard to implement graciously.

i'm pro-music-from-all-over-the-world-being-enslaved-to-metal-tho-graciously-done-kinda stuff! as long it is

Metal doesnt exist anymore. Its either the old metallers carrying on with no sponk coz theyve got nothing else to do and they dont fancy a job at the local Kwik Save where the kids would skit their mullets, or new 'metal' bands that arent really metal at all
oooo mick i recon you should of had a mullet before i shaved all your locks off :tickled: :hotjump: OOOOO FIRE ON THE DANCE FLOOR :hotjump:

Come on man, times change, I understand your point of view here but I mean metal has changed over the years. Like can you compare other sorts of Music you listened to long ago? Other than metal of course, there wasnt any Popular Music back then, it was Frank sinatra Dean Martin and stuff, now its Justin Timberlake and I dont know what...people change, times change..music changes and evolves....

everyone that says that metal is crap these days is fucking ignoramus or has no contact with current metal scene.

face it, the golden age is over dude.

There's not that much metal I'm checking out these days, I mainly listen to old metal records, and I keep discovering 80's and early 90's metal bands regularly.
Some new bands are pretty fresh and good though. Old Dead Tree is excellent, Ram-Zet has a pretty original sound (although I'm not always in the mood for this), and then there's The Haunted, not THAT new, but they're not a classic band either, and they play good old school thrash, so.

i dont get the point in buying the haunted's cds when youve got good old at the gates, slayer, coroner or kreator.

I know it's not refreshing, but at least they are currently one of the best thrash metal bands. Slayer is still great, Kreator have made a decent comeback, and At the Gates once was a great band. Must admit I haven't heard Coroner yet.

give a go to 'mental vortex' and 'punishement for decadence' and keep in mind that they were a trio. and also check the two albums the guy from coroner did with kreator, 'outcast' and 'endorama', and anything kreator did after their third album really, altho im not that keen on that 'violent revolution'.

no i wont. there are too many good bands out of the metal scene to waste more time checking iron maiden or slayer copies.
