Aside from the NWOBHM, 90's Swedish death, late 80's Tampa Bay death, and 90's Norwiegan black metal eras, the 1970's were probably the best overall. Metal wasn't as diverse or heavy, but it was incredibley well played and the songs were pure genius. Demons And Wizards, Sabbath Bloody Sabbath, Overkill, and Sin After Sin are all in my top 20 all-time list.

Beneath the Massacre is pretty shit tbh. The rest on your top 8 are okay at best, apart from Gorguts which are amazing. Maybe you should stop listening to synthetic tech death bullshit and check out bands like Tribulation, Interment, Funebrarum, The Chasm, Hooded Menace etc.

Aside that, your music is decent. Keep it up.

You're a bitter old man then. I've been listening to metal for more than 30 years now and I still find new and exciting stuff.
There is a lot of young bands which managed to revive old genres and others that created their own sound and, in both cases, there's plenty of bands to kick someone who really loves metal's ass.
Clearly, the stuff you're looking for doesn't seem to belong to the "extreme" scene or maybe you're just too nostalgic for your own good.

I just cant seem to find anything good these days, it has to do with songwriting and 95% of the new stuff ive heard about/checked out have sucked.

i dont think its about that, good quality music is good quality music, when you analyze these new bands they just arent musically as good as the bands/albums from the past, im not saying all of them but the vast majority. There were simply much more quality before.

i dont think its about that, good quality music is good quality music, when you analyze these new bands they just arent musically as good as the bands/albums from the past, im not saying all of them but the vast majority. There were simply much more quality before.

I personally think that when it comes to metal, you have more bands these days trying to emulate what other bands have done before. And with the bands before, they 'revolutionized' that sound and trademarked it. What you hear of bands now, is even though they maintain decent quality, it's nothing as ground breaking as it was listening to bands of that era.

There are still plenty of quality bands out there, you just have to look alot harder because amidst the massive sea of shit there are still plenty of gems.
