Have metalcore and deathcore gone beyond death metal?

Yeah, I'm definitely going to take a guy seriously who says I have bad arguments when he doesn't know the difference between "your" and "you're". Of course I wouldn't expect anything better from someone small-minded enough to be giving suicide invites online
Metalcore is as much metal as anything else under the "metal umbrella", and is in fact a lot more brutal and intense than a lot of its neighbours under the umbrella. Saying it isn't metal is just silly small-minded elitist BS.;)

You have no point to anything you say. Metalcore isn't brutal or intense, it's utterly horrendous and trendy. There is nothing good about it. Fuck off and die.

I don't get what you're asking. I don't think BM was ever a fad either if that's what you mean.

Well you said that death metal was never considered to be trendy or false etc. But in the early 90s in particular many people felt that it was. Mostly those part of the second wave black metal scene, as that was partially a reaction to the early 90s death metal scene.

I enjoy a bit of metalcore occasionally, there is some listenable stuff out there among all the garbage. I don't understand how anyone could like that and NOT like a bit of old-school DM at least, there is a lot of the same (albeit far superior ;)) energy, speed and aggression that someone into metalcore might appreciate. It makes me a sad panda that they are missing out on some of the finest, most intricate metal ever created

I definitely have an open mind to Death Metal because I think it has lots of potential, if you recommend some of the greatest Death Metal albums for me to listen to, I'll get hold of them right away.

Well, the song I heard that got me in to death metal is Death's Zombie Ritual. Although the album Scream Bloody Gore is often considered to be more of an extreme thrash metal album I still consider it as the first Death Metal album I ever heard that I liked. Of course, everyone's tastes are different and you don't seem like the kind of person that would ever enjoy classic death metal. I'd recommend you start with some melodic death metal bands. Try some pre-clayman In Flames, Dark Tranquillity, Soilwork, Amorphis, Amon Amarth, etc. Still... you said new COB is better than old COB so I'm fairly certain you're a lost cause.

Ok thanks, I already like Amon Amarth but I'll give the others a listen, was hoping for specific album names rather than just general band recommendations, but I'll see what I can dig up.

Hahaha I guess you missed the part about this being a thread about metalcore where it is actively being discussed?

True, but these threads don't come along often. What I'm trying to say is that you could find an entire forum to discuss the music you like.

Not only that, but everyone is hating on metalcore and deathcore in this thread. Not much of a "discussion."

Amon Amarth isn't death metal. Try Incantation, Immolation, Autopsy, Ignivomous, Dead Congregation, Morbid Angel, Demilich, etc.

amon amarth ripped off some riffs from early death metal THERION.

I never liked them, now I know why....

well the dragon's flight across the waves is a pretty good song.

Alright guys I figured I'd hop on in and make a post typical of myself.

I consider myself very open minded

I busted a gut laughing at this. Uncontrollable tears of laughter poured down my face and into my mouth, and I was so surprised that I choked on them, which made me laugh even harder. Then you followed it with this:

And all my laughter was gone at that point, so I just smirked a little and carried on.

Also, thank you to whatshisface for reminding me to get back into The Red Chord. They are a quality act.

The argument in this thread is fucking circular.
