What is the significant difference between deathcore and metalcore?

Please tell me that shit is meant as a joke.

It's sad to see people ripping whole genres just because they have "core" in them. There are good and shitty bands in all genres.

I agree that there are a lot of trendy newer bands out there. But not every deathcore/metalcore band out there sounds generic. There are some pretty sick bands like Veil of Maya, The Human Abstract, Between the Buried and Me, After the Burial, for example.

I dont get it...at all. Its like calling Darkthrone the first shitting trendy blackned deathcore band.

Tbh, I was just trolling DD, but Bloodbath really is horrible.

Also I hope you're not implying that Darkthrone is shitty, cause then I'll have to poke fun at your HILARIOUS Opeth signature (I'm assuming you like them because of said sig).

What the hell's wrong with Opeth? Especially early to mid?

Examples of good Deathcore (and the only good deathcore I have found, not a genre I explore)

At least wait til it gets started around 0:17

Terrible. This is good deathcore? Sounds like everything else. Theres maybe 5 albums in the entire genre of deathcore worth listening to, and 2 of them are from The Red Chord.

Except Despised Icon sucks and I've never been able to "get" what people see in them. Whitechapel - The Somatic Defilement is the best deathcore album.

Like I said, not a genre I explore at all. I will check out the Red Chord though, what are your other 3? I feel I should try them just to make sure I'm avoiding the genre for a reason.

I like Shadow of the Colossus, they seem very original to what I've heard, especially the almost eerie sounding lead guitar on the album.

  • Deathcore
  • Doom and Ruination by Job For a Cowboy
  • The last three Between the Buried and Me albums
  • We Butter the Bread with Butter is fun electro-deathcore, but it's really simplistic and 90% of the songs are breakdowns so you will probably hate them, just like everyone else on the board.

    Metalcore
  • This Darkened Heart by All That Remains

My "good core" picks, tbh.
